The True Blood books are good. Not too taxing and you can get through them pretty quick as they’re not too long.
The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón is a good one too.

@Gav for easy holiday reads I suggest:

Fiction: Chuck Palahniuk, Colin Bateman, Simon Green
Non fiction: Mark Steel, Mark Thomas
Fictionalised: Dave Gorman, Danny Wallace, Richard Herring

For further info on any suggestions, I’d check out the Amazon reviews.

PM me if you want to borrow any of the above :)

Am liking it so far, but all these references to Leeds landmarks seem strange to me!

I did indeed. I thought it was really good. They’d changed a few things here and there from the books and it all seemed a bit rushed with each book compressed into two episodes, but despite that they did a good job of it. What did you think?

So, on my hols I managed to read:

Lemmy - White Line Fever
Touching From A Distance - Deborah Curtis
Lords of Chaos (about the Black Metal scene in Scandinavia in the early 90’s)
Hells Angels - Hunter S Thompson.

I bought the missus that Girl with the Dragon tattoo book, so I’m gonna have a do at that once she’s finished with it.

I’m currently reading one called the Psychopath Test.

Bill Bryson is fantastic - I read The life and times of the Thunderbolt Kid on the plane once and my girlfriend had to keep shushing me as I was laughing so hard - can’t wait for the new one to come out in paperback (unless it already - haven’t checked for a while).

Having finally finished a 900 page biog on Churchill, I’m now racing through Joe Simpson’s Storms of Silence - very thought-provoking, although the main thought it provokes is that I want to see more mountains…

Yeah, I’d agree with that pretty much! It’s a shame that they compressed it into only 6 episodes, they could’ve got a longer series out of it but maybe that would have cost too much or summat. Definitely hope they do the next book, and that one’s clearly got to have a sequel so plenty more to go on :D

I just started getting lost to the genious world of Henning Mankell. Even though it’s crime stories series and i’m not the biggest fun, the atmosphere that’s been created from the writer, is pretty dark and curious with a lot of potential in it!

there’s a lot of published books already, a full catalogue actually. After research to the internet, i also saw that there are two TV series. One is published from the BBC, and the second one is a Swedish production. I know from now that the forthcoming nights will be occupied from both series.

by the way, therapy? is playing this weekend in Athens. 6 more days to go and then…Up with the sickness mothertrunkers
