Failed first year at uni

#

Started by Kuan J (Kuanysh Jaxybayev)

Hey guys,
I failed my first year at uni (BSc Management), and I think I’m allowed to retake, the exams I’ve failed, at the end of the year (in May). I was wondering if you have any ideas on I can do throughout the year, whilst waiting for the resits. Maybe some short courses, which would keep me busy and useful to me. Maybe some Marketing, Business studies courses you may know? I know this discussion is a little bit of the topic, but I’m trying everywhere I can, to get some advice. I want to take out the maximum out of this ”gap” year. ”If you have a lemon, make a lemonade.”
Thanks.

what do you want to do after yougo back and graduate? Try getting some (probably unpaid) work experience now to put on your CV, or else Mrs H’s advice seems pretty sound, whatever you do, do something so you don’t have a blank period on your CV

And try and work out why you failed - did you not work enough, spend too much time drunk, had personal stuff to deal with that won’t recur, or maybe you’re just not doing the right course for you (I did a degree I wasn’t really interested with, stuck with it out of fear of change and ended up with a lower grade than otherwise would have done as I just couldn’t engage with the subject), maybe you were just unlucky.

And remember, everyone’s advice is just advice…

i’ve failed my first year twice in a row, no regrets at all, had a good time and student loans much much easier than dealing with the patronizing buggers at the job center.

at the end of the day, uni teaches you alot of valueable life skills, learn how to find your own feet and helps you grow as a person, none of that is done in the classroom though.

Where do they get job centre people from? They were one of the “highlights” of my six months out of work :-s
