One for the computer geniuses

My computer recently got infected with Spyaxe/Spywarestrike - I’ve managed to get rid of it but there’s ‘something’ still on my computer. There’s nothing obviously wrong with my computer, but I keep getting the following bugs picked up by my AV software:

AVG (Free version) - Downloader.Generic.PCM

McAfee VirusScan - Downloader.AQW & New Malware.j (which it then says is ms.cornet.exe)

Microsoft Antispyware Beta - Trojan.downloader.Slvr

Both Spybot and Adaware come back clean. Anyone got any ideas whether these are dangerous bugs (and how I get rid of them), or just false positives…?

No idea, but have you tried putting them into a search engine? You can sometimes find out that way.

googling them proved surprisingly unhelpful. I thought Google knew everything. I was wrong.

The is no such thing as certainty any more :(

You could just delete them manually I guess.

I suggest you do an onlinescan with http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/activescan.htm

You should get a report, anything that is reported there should be removed by you if it isn’t disinfected anyway.

Thanks guys. Whenever I try deleting it, it comes back the next time I run a scan, with or without rebooting & with system restore disabled.

I’ll give those links a go and let you know if I have more trouble.

Is it possible to sync iTunes on two computers without too much hassle?

Never done it myself, but there is a setting somewhere to “authorize computer”. My guess is, you’d just sign to iTunes on the 2nd computer then plug in your iPod and it should sync.

I’ve heard its not possible to do anything with iTunes without too much hassle… its a design feature.

Yeah I can kinda get the two computers to share stuff but you manually need to shift anything you put on one onto the other, which is a pain, some sort of auto-sync would be nice but a quick google didn’t seem to throw up too much positive.

Would also like to do the same with Outlook…
