I don’t think I’ve really bought/heard much new stuff this year, asde from the new Blink 182 album, so I guess that gets it by default.

Single - Tribes - We Were Children

Movies - again, not a lot jumping out at me - will go for Drive, followed by Tinker Tailor…

Books - don’t think I’ve read any new fiction this year, so will go for Sam Keen’s ‘The Disappearing Spoon’, which is a history of sorts of the periodic table

Gig - even if I’d been to more, it would probably still be The Killers at Hyde Park.

You lot make me seem v pedestrian :-p

2012 - looking forward to new albums/gigs from Tribes, Therapy?/Ladyhawke/Little Boots & hopefully The Offspring, plus The Dark Kniht Rises at the cinema

I’ve not bought much this year either, but Foo Fighters Wasting Light and Anthrax Worship Music were excellent. Worship Music was a big surprise actually, especially after all the Anthrax “dramas” of the last couple of years. Can’t recommend it highly enough if you haven’t heard it yet.

Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes was a great film.

Best gig I saw this year was QOTSA at Glasgow Academy, and Lee Evans gets a mention for being the best comedy show I have ever seen!!

7. Bloodiest - Descent
8. The Dreaming - Puppet
9. Machine Head - Unto the Locust
10. Ancestors - Invisible White
11. Long Distance Calling - Long Distance Calling
12. No Made Sense - New Season / New Blues
13. Blackfield - Welcome To My DNA
14. US Christmas - The Valley Path
15. Joey Cape’s Bad Loud - Joey Cape’s Bad Loud
16. Jello Biafra and the Guantanamo School of Medicine - Enhanced Methods of Questioning

Then there are a couple of albums I’ve got, but not had time to listen to that are probably worthy of the list - Astrohenge and Mogwai.
And a whole bunch of albums that came out that I expect will be very good but I haven’t bought yet: Nick 13, Chuck Ragan, Alkaline Trio, Memories of Machines, Laika Dog, Terrorvision, Jasta, Ghost Brigade, The Emergency Room… and a bunch more I can’t remember right now.

The *shels - Plains Of The Purple Buffalo would have been in mine as well, but they’ve yet to actually send my copy from the states so that’s going to be a 2012 album for me, if it ever arrives :-(
I Was Here For A Minute Then I Was Gone - Maybeshewill was another I forgot earlier.

Not including reissues here, but I enjoyed the following:

Dropkick Murphys - Going Out In Style
Evile - Five Serpents Teeth
Crowbar Sever The Wicked Hand
Fucked Up - David Comes To Life
Fleet Foxes - Helplessness Blues

There were other albums that came out this year that I liked, though the Metallica/Lou Reed album is more miss than hit

Gigs - hard to choose but Gallows were amazing at Sin City. One of Frank’s last gigs with the band and took me agaes to get over it and I don’t say that easily. Maiden in Cardiff, what’s to say but amazing. BTW, met Janick Gers in a pub afterwards. The Specials were awesome too but that Gallows gig, fucking, check the you tube footage…and see if you can spot a bald tattooed fella wearing glasses in the crowd.

Films - Red State but Rise of the Planet of The Apes had a great story and wasn’t depended on special effects to make a great move. Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy was something out of my comfort zone but worth viewing none the less.

Books - Bloodaxe’s Being Human anthology, Hate by Matthew Collins and Niall Griffiths’ Ten Pound Pom were excellent.

The new Bush album is great. Although the general sound of it is probably not what you’d be expecting, so if you’re a bit put off at first, I say stick with it. The songs are great. It’s quite different from all other Bush stuff (softer) but I suppose it’s most like Golden State (which is my favourite).
