I remember on the HA tour he said something about how all Irish folk music was really made for tourists and should fuck off or something like that which was well funny at the time. You probably had to be there…

He called someone a Clampett for requested a song that had already been played earlier in the set. Made me laugh but was perobably more the sense of unimpressedness (is there a proper word for that?) with the guy for not paying attention that made it funny.

And there was the trousers joke at te Water Rats last year…

@ soul doubt: well my memory’s really vague and as I said I don’t want to put wrong words in his mouth, but at the time it seemed to me at least like he was comparing Ireland to Belgium for a bit and basically saying politicians put us up with a lot of crap and make it seem like this crap is very important to our everyday lives while it actually isn’t at all ‘cos it’s just part of their political agenda, and that proof for this is how music brings people together and they can have fun together regardless of all that political shite. He said it way better and not very explicitly, but I believe that’s what it came down to. Though I don’t remember the exact words I do remember I was impressed at the time, even by Andy’s standards =) The AB gig was filmed but this was a cut part :(

@ soul doubt: yeah, if he said that it must’ve been part of the speech I meant, nice to hear some of the exact words again, even though they still don’t ring much of a bell =) (I normally have a mind for these kind of things)
