They have a new self titled album out soon.I think they are one of the best metal bands around.Has anyone else heard the new single Minerva? Its heavy but mellow at the same time.Chino is a very good singer. The Deftones music sounds intense and emotional.White Pony is my fav album by them so far.

I’m just hoping they’re playing with Metallica!

I saw ‘em live in the SFX in 1998, the gig with the “incident” involving Chino and a certain fan :)

It was in the news - Chino dived off the speaker stack into the crowd. Bear in mind this was a drop of about 20 feet. Basically, some guy in the crowd (standing about 2 feet to the left of me) broke his collar bone.

He brought the band and MCD, the promotors, to court. I think it was settled a few months ago, but I’m not too sure.

I’m just glad it wasn’t me that Chino fell on! :) He actually caught me in the head with a flailing foot, but I guess it was nothing compared to having that fat bastard land on you full on! :D

Concerning the Deftones: One of the best bands around, I really like their “sounding”. And Chino has an incredible voice!!!

At least he jumped in 98, if it was now, chances are he’d take you and all the fans he landed on through the floor with him! The way he’s going he’ll end up making Andy look anorexic!

well; i’m expecting a lot of it actually. i wasn’t much into “white pony” - liked the artwork more than the cd itself, which is never a good thing - but adrenalin and around the fur are true classics.. whenever i heard the new single (minerva schrammi, it’s called minerva), it just blew me away, that song is amazing.. let’s just wait and see i’d say…

They are so graet, it’s only a pitty that so many people still call them nu-metal and compare them with crapy bands like korn and linkin park and so one…
They have to be compared with the first wave of rap-metal like RATM and Faith No More.

I do love the first couple of albums, and always preferred them over Korn

Apparently they’d pretty much finished recording Eros but have scrapped it all and have started writing/recording again.

Its a shitter about Chi.

I thought they’d put it out, especially since Chi plays on it. It doesn’t look he’s ever gonna wake up from his coma, so to not release his last recorded material is a little strange, I think.
