the brilliance of ‘Infernal Love’

#

Started by slush puppy

I have been listening to ‘Infernal Love’ quite a lot this year, especially over the past few days. I remember being quite put off the album at the time because of the stupid moustaches and suits that Therapy? wore.

It’s amazing that you can forget how great an album is over time. ‘Infernal Love’ really is an amazing album. The singles were all great. My favourite tracks are ‘Bad Mother’ and ‘Me vs You’. I also love the intro to ‘Moment of Clarity’.

I definitely think ‘Infernal Love’ out-shines most albums that get released now. Or am I deluded?

Hmn, I’ve already given my verdict on this album a couple of times before, it’s my least favourite of T?’s output to date, although it’s got some great songs on it.

infernal love is a good one … but not all songs i think …
me vs. you … i remember when i first got the record, when it came out … i ecpected much more from the song …
i think the older version is much better …
(live version on shock treatment where its called “your disease)
on the album its just to much of effects on it …
bad mother, a moment of clarity and loose are my favourite tracks on it

good album, some dodgy lyrics (the bowels of love), didn’t care for the techno bits linking the songs together. also the end of 30 seconds is annoying.

it is one of t? most consistant albums though.

It’s a bit of a weird album, isn’t it? How many of you liked it at first listen? It took me some time to really appreciate the album, but I really love it now! I could do without the techno bits though, they’re kinda annoying.

I liked it at first. It was much ‘deeper’ then previous records. Lyrics are really one of the best. Lots of great dark semi-ballads. I like those most.
I’d rate this alongside Semi-D. and Nurse. :D

It took me some time to get into it that’s for sure, I think the worst bit for me is the production, after Troublegum the guitars sounded a bit weak to me. Some of the linking parts are ok, but it just disrupted the flow for me in parts.. I think the ending bang after 30 seconds in particular wasn’t needed.

infernal love is without a doubt my favourite album in the world. jude the obscene is my favourite therapy? song but its never talked about or barely heard of. infernal love deserves more praise than it gets if you ask me.

if it makes you feel any better melvin, i remember Andy saying in an interview that “jude the obscene” was probably his favourite song from that album, along with “bowels of love” (yuck!).

jude is probably my fav also.

Title: Changes

Well, I really like at T? that none of their almbus is the same as the previous ones. It was the same for me with Infernal Love. It was much different from Troublegum and took me a little time to like it. But this is it. (compare it to the albums by bands like Green Day or Rammstein - same sounds, same riffs and so on).All the song on IL are still good after many listenings. That’s why IL is one of the best albums I ever heard!

Infernal Love is awesome..

I think it’s a bit odd production wise coz the boys were possible over-indulging in the rock n’sniff lifestyle at the time.

It’s like the Beatles Sgt. Peppers album… Odd but genius :)

In my humble opinion Infernal Love is the best album they could have made during that time. I mean, they were so caught with the popularity-virus those days, that they couldn’t have made a better album.
With Semi-Detached, Infernal Love is my fav. TPY? album ever.

“Infernal Love” is the reason I got into Therapy?

Rather weird story, actually. I was involved with a guy who was telling me how he liked to play “Diane” for a girl of the same name whom he used to date. He sent me to a Therapy? lyrics site, and I was scrolling around there and was intrigued by the “A Moment of Clarity” lyrics, “Your lips like bruised vulva and your ass like Jesus feet”. They kind of stuck in my head for about a year until I finally bothered to download the song. I loved it from the beginning. For a few months, I desperately searched for “Infernal Love” without luck (You don’t know what a bitch it is to find a Therapy? album here that isn’t “Shameless”). Finally found it, instantly loved it. “A Moment of Clarity” remains my favorite Therapy? song.

Oh, what a beautiful album.
