Whats going on?

How come a shite band like Linlin Park back up Metallica and have million+ selling albums, and Therapy? only play small venues, don’t get the respect they deserve and are considered a ‘small’ band. It must be due to marketing, branding etc because musically the kick most bands asses.

Teenage girls? Record executives? Kerrang? MTV? Blokes with no dick? People who like their music spoon fed? The list is endless mate :)

Fuck them! They’re not worth stressing over! Pride yourself in the fact that you haven’t been sucked in :)

Title: Re: Whats going on?

there’s loads of reasons why t? missed the chance to become stadium rockers, mainly due to:

1) a refusal to play it safe with their music
2) a hefty dose of bad luck.
3) releasing infernal love as a follow up to troublegum.
4) waiting 3 years after IF to record an album that might win back the teenagers.
5) A&M collapsing when it did.

ect ect ect…

and t? are considered a ‘small’ band cos they are, relatively.

But I do think T? have a very loyal core fanbase, which is really important.

They have been unlucky, but it’s certainly not their fault. They’re always praised by the critics, I’ve only seen one really bad review, from a complete fuckwit who thought they were still a 3-piece, but it’s just all about image nowadays. No matter how good an album High Anxiety is, I just can’t see Therapy? pulling in a huge fanbase again, much as I’d like them to. But I do know that I don’t give a fuck that they don’t look trendy like Stinkin Fart, or that Andy’s pushing 40, cause I’ll always be a huge fan, because as far as I’m concerned there’s few better bands out there! :)

I’m glad Therapy? aren’t a huge band, it means the gigs are priced reasonably and you aren’t looking at 4 dots a mile away like most big bands. Plus the fans are more dedicated and really appreciate them!

Totally agree with you, and it has kept the feet of the members of the band well on the floor, and they appreciate the fans a lot more, not suing them for downloading music. I have all the albums, but it is nice and easy to download so that you can have them on the PC.
I’d sooner have the small gigs, when there is no security, your dead close to the band, and the band members can dive into the crowd.
Nice one T?, I think you have done everything well, money and success doesn’t always bring happiness, and that is why they’re still going strong

I agree with the above points absolutely, especially the 4 dots comment. I got fed up with big events a long time ago, give me small sweaty packed out little clubs any day of the week!

You’re absolutely right.
I went to see Placebo yesterday. They played in a hall packed to its capacity of 4500 and the venue was already too big. In March they played in Cologne at a venue only half that size and it was way more intimate and intense, too.

Hell yeah! All those gorgeous sweaty men around, packed in nice and tight. It’s enough to get this little lady excited no matter who’s playing! ;)

Seriously though, for the price you pay to go to some of these arena shows you can get to see an awful lot of great bands in smaller venues. And you’re less likely to get conned out of money for crap quality merchandise too.
