I like the title track, which is the one thing I hear by accident. I’m pretty impressed. I’m catching up again :D
And believe me, that ain’t the best song on the album! Listen a few times to frantic, shoot me again or unnamed feeling and you’ll be catching up even sooner ;)

I saw them three times this weekend and I must say I was impressed!!! My expectations were high, but it even was beter. James’s voice was awesome…and no songs from load and reload!!! Their best setlists in MANY years and above all: they changed it for every gig!!!!!!!!! Rock am ring was the least of the three shows because the sound really sucked, it was like I was listening to a crappy audience bootleg…But Rock im park and Berlin were awesome!!!!! Especially Berlin, which was a real Metallica show and no festival. I even was lucky enough to meet the band in Rock im park!!! Pics of that meeting are up at the metontour site.
Now I’m heading for part two of the adventure: Paris (2 times), Italy and Fields of rock.
I’m tired…must…sleep…zzzzzzzzzzzz
I don’t have a clue where you were standing during Rock Am Ring, but to me it sounded fucking awesome…
What a set… brilliant… finally no Load - Reload crap and they will do a club tour in January - February :D
Just a few more days until Fields Of Rock :D

To me the new album sounds GREAT…
The drums definately sound different, but brilliant I think…
And I really don’t understand how some people can say this is another Load or Reload… this is completely different in my opinion…
Let’s hope all these people stay home from their concerts… more space for me in the front :D

…as it was based on a first listen. I’m now slowly coming to the conclusion that this a superb album. Once you get past the new drum sound, the lack of solo’s and the fact that it sounds nothing like Old Metallica it starts to sound better and better.
If this was a new album by a new band I’d be blown away. Once I managed to put aside certain feelings I think I am :)
It’s been quite a while since I had a U-Turn like this over an album I hated on first listen. Chris Cornell - Euphoria Morning was the last.
okay, how much did they pay you to write that? ;)

Title: I still think Metallica backstabbed. So does Fat Mike (NOFX)
Hey Fat fans, thanks for tuning in. We got two new records out today and some other bullshit news, but for now you should read what Fat Mike has to say from his tour in Europe:
Greetings and salutations people, Fat Mike here. Here is in the UK. We just played a big festival with Less Than Jake, the Real McKenzies, Strung Out, Randy, Bouncing Souls, and everyone’s favorite Metallica. Yeah, we we’re all minding our own business playing in the punk tent at the Donnington festival, when Metallica show up unannounced. They set up before Strung Out and play for an hour and a half. All the other bands got a half hour, but now everyones set got cut to 20-25 minutes. I don’t know…Metallica have a few good old songs, but why couldn’t they go to the main stage and fuck up Zwan’s or Audioslaves set? Why do they gotta come to the punk stage and bum us out? Well not everyone was bummed out, but I was. No one was allowed on stage and all the stinking metalheads with their mullets and moustaches barged into our scene. I guess I’m just a whiner. Yes I definitely bitching about nothing. I got to write about something I guess. Oh the cool thing was that it started pouring rain on Billy Corrigan’s sucky new band Zwan. I think he started to cry. I might be a whiner, but at least I’m not a sniveler like stupid Billy Corigan. Man I think this might be the worst thing I ever wrote. I suck.

Poor Fat Mike, how will he survive the Hurricane festival?
Before NoFX Apocalyptica are on stage, so it’s metalheads again. And right after NoFX The Roots are going to play, so he’ll have loads od HipHop kids, too.;)
I don’t know how much I’m going to see from Fat Mike as Interpol are playing the tent at the same time.
Anyway, as this is a Metallica thread: I’ve seen the Rock Am Ring set live on MTV and I have to admit it was pretty awesome. I’m not a huge fan of their music but I think I’ll have to get the St. Anger album as it definitely rocks.

I’ve been listening to St,Anger for a week now, and I’m afraid to say, it’s boring!!!! Honest, 70 odd miniutes of repetitive loudness. Metallica used to write great tunes, but not on this album, and the drums sound terrible.
I have a feeling I may have annoyed some people, sorry, but I just think the album’s a bit shitty.

That’s an awesome track.
I can’t say much about the other tracks.
Some are dull, some have great parts.
And the lyrics sorta suck…
At least lars puts some tempo in it again. Woooo!
Its definitly not the old-80s metal they played.
There’s no solos or strong melody lines that made their first 4 so special.
I don’t really mind the snare, but there’s too much echo on it or something, i think.
At least Metallica ‘Metals’ again.
(or just a bit :D)

i cannot live with that!
saw qotsa at Rock am Ring and…yeah well, to say it nicely, it’s not really my kind of music.
unfortunatly we had no chance to hide before the deftones, but we were refusing to see placebo and audioslave…and a very good thing was that linkin park cancelled!!!
so looking at all those bands, i reeeeeeeeaaaaally hope metallicas days are NOT over!
