I don’t think anyone has tried to work them out yet.
I’ll might try to figure them out tonight!

Prompted me to listen to it again — isn’t it a fooking rocking song! Wonder why it never made it any further.

Anyhow, referring to notes about lost songs:

According to my notes it was played in Apr/May 96… but it says the chorus repeated “this is my world, baby, this is my fucking world”. This is obviously not the case having now heard the MP3. So, which song was this?

“I’m gonna kill your mother, I’m gonna kill your father, and blame it on you”. Where did those lyrics go?

Oh, and doesn’t the end of the Sweeney remind you of Lunacy Booth?

Alex, I think you missed a post by Rene a few weeks ago. He posted a response he got from Andy regards the song you mentioned above.

Apparently, the song (at the time called ‘New Song In D’) was a very early version of ‘Joey’. The lyrics were totally different, but some of the music is similar. Having heard about 30 seconds of this live version, and knowing it was a ‘Joey’ prototype, it actually became obvious to me that it was an early version of ‘Joey’.

I’ll try to find the thread…

Title: THE SWEENEY

What, exactly, is a Sweeney? Does this have something to do with Sweeney Todd?
And yes, this is a pretty good song.

‘The Sweeney’ was the name of a cop show on BBC TV in the UK

I’ve since tried to make out the lyrics but Andy mumbles a lot of the verses and it’s almost impossible to make them out. :(

Hi,

I know there’s a musicians forum for this kind of thing, but it doesn’t seem especially active, and you don’t need to be a musician to get lyrics-

I want to play The Sweeney at band practise tomorrow, and hopefully get it in the set, but I can only understand about 1/2 of the lyrics. If anyone can help me out I’d be grateful.

Thanks.

Thanks anyway.

It got played, it might end up in the set, just with mumbling and repetition.

“Wedding rings…between your legs…”

Wedding rings between my legs?
