I think they put on a damn good live show, but I’m not sure I like them enough to buy any of their records.

We’ve been playing them a lot at work, I don’t know why we just can’t do it properly and have some AC/DC on myself!

The album’s great! I love it all.

The first 3 tracks are particularly rocking!

I hear little bits of AC/DC in there and it’s more powerful than alot of the 80’s LA ‘hair’ bands some may compare them too!

I hear something modern in their sound too, that’s another thing that’s so appealing about them. (to me)

Well my brother bought me the album and I’d love to hear it but thanks to the wonderful copy right protection software IT WON’T BLOODY PLAY ON MY CD PLAYER!!!!!!!!!!!!! I couldn’t be more peeved.

OK I understand the need for artists to protect their work, but this is too much! It’s not like my equipment is ancient - I only bought this CD player last autmun!

I’ve been reduced to bringing it into work and playing it on my pc there. AND before I do that it wants to bloody intstall software on my machine. This is totally crazy!

It won’t let me rip the cd so I’ve got to do an analogue rip using a minidisc, pisses me off because this album is ideal for driving around on Vice City with!

A big 10/4 to that buddy!

That game should come with a health warning, very very addictive. I stupidly started playing it half way thrugh my finals! Cricky bikey!

keep on rocking like the 80’s stadium cock rocker everyone has gurning inside them!

Having heard the album recently all I have to add is that they’re a one trick pony, and that trick grows very tiresome very quickly. And some of you guys slagged off Andrew WK for being one dimensional?! Shame on you all!

i just can’t help but feel that we might be looking at the worlds first manufactured 70s dinosaur rock band! how did they manage to blag a support slot for metallica/linkin park in the RDS when they hadn’t even an album released yet? and where was all the hype coming from, it eclipses even the hype that surrounded the white stripes!

Having listened to Permission To Land a few times now i think The Darkness are a good band.I have no idea if they are being ‘ironic’ or serious but either way they are a breath of fresh air in the UK rock scene.I never thought i would like them.I think they won a Kerrang award for best album recently. The Darkness are not a very orignal band but they are a fun one.Whether or not they repeat the success they have now with a second album remains to be seen (and heard).

You’re right, Andrew WK ain’t no one trick pony, he’s a horse with no name. :)
I’ve not finally made up my mind what to think of The Darkness, but anything’s better than WK (except Coldplay, of course).

I’m listening to Permission To Land right now and I have to admit that it does rock (although it takes some time to really get used to the vocals).
So I’ve made up my mind. They’re ok, but definitely not worth the hype that’s created around them.
As I’ve read that there’s gonna be a movie from The Dirt (the Mötley Crüe autobiography), then The Darkness should write the score for it.

I didn’t think I’d like The Darkness cause my housemate loves them and he generally has crap taste in music but that song is just so darn catchy and the video is ace. I do agree they’re probably a one-hit-wonder though.

they do “rock” but another album would be pushing it
