I’ve heard a Rumour

#

Started by Paddygolder

Sorry if any one else has already mentioned this, but in the Reading brochure at the festival there was an advert for a THERAPY? gig in london on November 26th 2003, I’ve searched the web including the astoria page where it is supposigdly being held and come up blank..

Does any one know if this is happening, if so are the tickets available and if so where should I look to find them?

Reading could have done with Therapy? the saturday was so dull I didn’t bother leaving the camp site.

Big Hi to any other T? fan who was there.

And see you all at London.. if this gig does exist.

Yeah, Reading really could have done with Therapy?, and last year, and the year before!! Still, it was fun.

London Astoria is happening, even if it can’t be confirmed on this web page yet. As is 21st, Rugeley (300 capacity). And the 22nd at a venue I can’t say yet. So I guess there will be several other UK gigs around this time.

Hi, as you can see this is my first post. I am new to the board, but have been a T? fan for ages!

I have seen tickets for the Astoria show advertised on the wayahead.com site. Tickets for the Rugeley show are available from ticketweb. Hope this helps, see you all at the shows!

the astoria gig looks to be the 25th as opposed to the 26th according to wayahead and most other ticket outlets.

Yep, that seems to be the case. What a waste of advertising fees in the Reading programme! ;-)

I’ve updated sp.com with this info.

And my own calendar :-)

The ad was in the leeds programme too, it just pissed me off really, seen as there’s nothing else confirmed for the UK, but that one isn’t either…

I suspect the advertising between the Reading and Leeds programmes is exactly the same…

As for UK dates, as far as I honestly know, the Staffordshire date is a go (having spoken to the club night organisers). The London Astoria date will definitely happen (regardless of date). The date has obviously moved, but the 25th looks like a good bet. Also, the day after Staffordhsire a very famous UK location will host Therapy? as far as I know (best intentions intended, despite it not being 100% confirmed).

Does anyone know where I live? ;)

The above would suggest that there will be other UK dates roundabout the same period.

I’ll be at the Astoria, of course…but **hell yeah** Brighton Concorde gig ruled last time. Andy said they’d be back, how about this Tour? Get a chance to introduce a bunch of local punkers to T? live.

And how about playing that little secret track from the Rust album track? Kick ass…

(anyone know what its called?)

:D

The tracks called Never Ending. It does end of course, which is a bit of a disappointment, but then, I never believed the hype in the first place.

Oh, the one on the poll I didnt recognize…

Didnt no-one vote for that. Ignorance (my excuse) or is it just a bit light for metalhedz?

Best bit of pop they ever done IMHO, just right for MTV2

Yeah, I voted for “Never Ending”, I think it’s the best thing on the album - a brilliant slice of pop-punk. As a single, it would make a great choice.

Much better than the embarassing comic nature of “Hey Satan”

I thought Hey Satan was ironic? I’m just pleased to see My Voodoo Doll wasn’t that popular, I hope someone pays attention and they don’t release it.

Hey Satan rules 2. Its what I voted for. Yeah, I reckoned it was ironic / tongue in the cheek. Dont stop it rocking.

What they should do with Never Ending:-

Get a bunch of 20 year old twats with tats, piercings & big cheekbones to do the video, sit back and milk the cash…

Its why Blink182 are worth a fortune and no-one heard of Millencolin. And this is every bit as good as Millencolin’s best.

**gets off the soapbox**

It’s what New Order did on the ‘Crystal’ video (no tats or piercings though). Pity. Would have preferred to see Hooky the beer monster.

There may be better songs on the album, but releasing a single is something a band does to promote itself - get their name, AND music, heard by more people.

What’s the point of releasing Hey Satan? The sort of people who would like it already have the album. ANd it wont get played by radio and TV.

Whereas, if they release “Nobody here but us” it’ll be all over MTV (if the record company promote it properly - on which subject, can anyone tell me why THE FUCK “If it kills me” was never a track on Kerrang! TV?)

“Nobody here but us” has the potential to sell a shedload, get loads of airplay, AND pick up new fans.

It’s pop punk, yeah, but the chorus is easy to sing-along and easy to remember.

Anyway, they won’t play Hey satan… on the music channels - even if it’s the best song ;)

I was thinking about this when I last listened to HA… and I have to agree with above — Nobody Here But Us would be the best song in terms of commercial success, I believe… It is inoffensive enough to get airplay, hey, the chorus even has a tambourine in it. Where as Hey Satan, well, I think a lot of people will be discouraged from playlisting it…
