Age difference

#

Started by Body Bag Girl Iris

Maybe a strange question, but what is the biggest age difference youve had in a relationship and how old where you at that time. I mean if you are 80 and your boy/girl is 70 it’s not such a big deal, but what if you are 27 and he/she is 17… Just wondering…
Please let me know!

I suppose you’re right - how old you are does make it relative. When I was 14 my boyfriend was 17 and that seemed like quite a big gap (to my mother at least ;)). I think the biggest age gap I’ve had is 8 years (me 18, bloke 26) but that didn’t seem like much.

I don’t really think it matters anyway :)

I’m 26, and I can’t imagine dating an 18 year old… not because of the age itself, but because of the difference in experiences and even the differences of what this kind of relationship would mean to each participant. I get hit on by 16 year olds (cause I look too damn young!), but wouldn’t consider for a second taking these young ladies out, simply because they havn’t had the experience as far as relationships go.

another thing is that its more acceptable if the guy is older…people would be way more understanding of a relationship between a 27 yr old guy and a 17 yr old gal…but if it was a 27yr old gal and a 17yr old guy she’d propbably be put in a hole and stoned!!!

We’ve been together since I was 30 and she 22.
We’ve never found the age gap a problem…although it does mean that she tends to like cheesy 80’s hair metal bands. :D

I was 17, my ex 23. Not a problem at all. It’s just that most people think I’m 6 years younger so then the agedifference would have been 12 years! Haha… The difference now is only 4 years. Probably a cliche, but it really is just about how old you feel. As long as the magic is doing its job and trust is not a subject of doubt, you shouldn’t worry…*

Well… I’ve met this guy and he’s only 22. I’m 28, normally I would only date men that are about 10 years older, so this is a big difference. I can talk to him about so many things I normally can’t talk to with 28+… it’s so strange, ‘cause I do think about his age all the time.
Nothing is happening and we are just friends right now, but I do maybe like him a bit more :D So now you know ;)

@Iris - well if you like him, go for it! I don’t think you can discount what might be a great relationship just because he isn’t the ‘usual’ age of your boyfriends. You might even get a taste for toyboys ;)

6 years and 11 months age gap - we’ve been together just over 5 years and fit really well together it would seem. Age difference really only matters to 2 people, although how realistc those people are being is a different matter, depends what you want from the relationshship

I don’t get it Iris, you have an age requirement for a boyfriend? It doesn’t make sense to me, if you like somebody you just go for it!

Not kidding. And I usually refer to him as ‘The Missus’, but boyfriend is just easier all round.

what have you got to lose? Toyboys are great. Having said that I feel a bit guilty for being currently obsessed with a 16 year old, me being 19. It’s not good but if we were in our 20s it would be fine.
