Sometimes, I’m ashamed and proud of our political system at the same time, mostly because it means that if these guys can get into a position of power, anyone can… and that means that even our government is equel opertunity. Just wish the people voting had more sense.

I don’t have an issue with celebrities moving into politics as such, though I think they would be slightly less well received in the UK. Then again, Glenda Jackson managed it.

I’m just not sure Arnie is really cut out for it - he seemed to be nodding his head and saying anything to win the election without really explaining what his policies and plans actually are.

I don’t mind celebs being political figures, but when they get into those positions solely because of their celebrity status, it seems kinda pointless. You know, like in High School, when the nerdiest kid got voted to be Prom King, and people voted for him because it was a big joke to them. Happened in my Junior year, and I couldn’t help but feel bad for the poor kid that got voted in just to be the butt of another joke. Just seemed like he was in over his head, and he went along with it because others urged him into it. Then when it happens, you hear a collective groan, like everyone in the room thought they were the one being clever in voting for him, but never expected everyone else to think they were just as clever.

Long, but does get to how I feel about the subject. The problem with celebrity politicians is people focus even more on their celebrity, and not what issues mean the most to them.

But I htink his success is a sign of how people estimate our politicians. You don’t have to have any competence, you just have to present yourself in a good way. So as politics seems to have become showbiz (everywhere in the world), let the real professionals in this business take over.

Hi!

This is my first post! Didn’t Ozzy also consider/or actually run aswell? I’m sure Arnie will get alot of support from his wife’s family, Maria Schriver, who is from the Kennedy clan?

he’s a fuckin moron. and calafornia derserves our contempt for putting him in power. i visited 22 US states last year and calafornia seemed the most liberal and informed in a univeral sense, we even considered moving there.
But what is going on!?
It seems the more information people have on their doorstep, the more stupid they become. I love america and its people but i hate the political system and its media, and i wish the american people would stand up for themselves and demand a legitimate and impartial media, its a complete circus at the moment. cop the fuck on!

i’m reminded of disgracelands…and ont in our name.

its sick but sometimes when i hear of US and UK casualties in Iraq i’m happy (in a perverse way), its like serves you right, unjustified and illegal war and now your havin your shit. 10,000 innocent iraqi civilians dead and 10 times that injured, this was not the way to go about things.

Hm… you know, I never grow tired of that particular diatribe. As for unbiased media, name a way that media could be unbiased, and I’ll be impressed.

Sorry if I’m not exactly being kind here, but I come to this forum because it’s been the one place (till today) that I havn’t had to listen to the general bitching about the war. Believe me, we get enough of that crap on a day to day basis everywhere else on the web. I guess I get tired of getting yelled at for something I have no control over by people, just like me, who don’t know what the hell is going on through first hand experience.

As for being glad to hear that people are dying, yes, that is sick.

Heya Dano, as for Schwarzenneger becoming President, this will never happen because he wasn’t born in the U.S. Part fo the constitution states that our President must have been born within the United States.

We’ve had a nice, long bitch about the war ages ago, just do a search. How would you expect anyone not to go on about it?

I must have come along after that whole thing. I guess I find it strange that this fella takes a sick pleasure in hearing that people are dying because of a decision made by a government that was put into place simply because old people can’t figure out how to work a ballet box. I don’t know about you, but I sure as hell couldn’t walk up to the parents of those kids (and I do mean kids) who died and tell them that they had it coming.

As for not going on about it, I find it easy. I don’t watch the television, so I’m not media saturated, I stopped reading the biased newspapers (all of them), and I focus on the real issue of both sides being too damn stubborn to compromise with eachother. All this axis of evil bullshit and American superiority bullshit is propoganda, and everyone involved is either too braindead or self rightous to ever change their view. The media is just a new religion, where the people believe the crap that is fed to them and swallow the fear by the gallon, all the while being easier to control.

I swear, sometimes this whole crappy world just depresses me.

They quoted some of his policies on Jonathon Ross last night - my favourite was on employment ‘Everyone will have a fantastic job. It will be brilliant’ Lofty ideals indeed.

Unless the Democrats get their act together, and the Republicans change the law, ostensibly because America is a land of opportunity and to not allow foreigners would be ‘racist’. Not that I’m a cynic…

He should have been a she, and a pyro-kinetic. I’m sure I heard about something like this in the 70s…

Arnie has achieved every one of his dreams he wanted to be a champion body builder and he won the Mr Universe title several times,he wanted to be an actor and he achieved that.He was a millionaire at 22 and he has always talked of a career in politics and now hes the Governor of Caifornia i wish i had some of his ambition and motivation.

Oh, and the presidency is the ONE office restricted by place of birth. It kinda makes sense, if you think about it. Imagine someone born in… lets say… Cuba… becoming leader of Japan. How about the new Prime Minister being born in Canada, living there for a few years, then moving to Britian to become a leader of Parliment? It’s not really racism, and to be honest the last thing in the world I wish to be prophetic is Demolition Man.

Besides, I’ve decided that you have to be either insane, a womanizer, or an idiot pawn to want and to be President of the U.S.

Oh yeah, nice Carrie reference there Citizen Erased :)

The only time I’ve hiked on a glacier, I kept slipping over and got a very damp bum. A young lady in our group got hypothermia, and I looked after her, which meant lots of brownie points - so many in fact, that we’ve been together ever since.
