What a great band, and what a classic “Dirt” is. What a shame Layne wasted his talent :(

sorry, but can’t agree. Would is a great song, but as a whole they’re boring.
I think they brought a real depressive mood into grunge and live they seemed to be, at least in my ears, to be a bad Cult clone.

AIC were a superb band - one of my favourites. If you listen to Jerry Cantrells album Degradation Trip, however, it’s obvious who the talent in the band was. Layne was a superb frontman but Jerry was and still is an amazing musician. His solo albums are awesome!

Grunge WAS essentially depressive in mood!

Thats all well and good but the Bogey Depot album before the more recent one was far better and I thing the …Trip album is lacking something…possible Layne’s input???

As for the talent in the band the writing and the lyrics were what differentiated AIC from other not to be named so called Grunge bands!

AIC is definitely one of the best bands in the grunge movement. Even if I don’t really like the live album, they’re miles away from being a Cult clone… I think they gave their best in their “lightest” works, like Jar of Flies, where you can really appreciate their technique and musical feeling, even if they’re a little farer from the grunge style they grew up into.
Great band.

I love “Bogey Depot”! “Degradation Trip” sounds like Nickelback, a boring rip-off of Alice In Chains. I’m glad these songs never made it onto an AIC album.

AIC and Soundgarden have been my fave Grunge bands.
AIC was certainly the most depressing.
Dirt is a masterpiece.
(Check out the two songs on the Last Action Hero OST- should have been on ‘dirt’)

Which bands are going to pay tribute to AIC?

i saw a top five grunge chart on mtv2 , there was some amazing songs particularly rusty cage by soundgarden - but of course in bloom by nirvana had to be at number which i think doesnt make sense , i think if all the hype was stripped away from that nevermind albumn it isnt that impressive i see the songs of bleach and incesticide as being more exciting. I was just listening to alice in chains’ dirt this morning and there is some powerful songs but the band must have been a right pack of miserabelles, “its gonna rain when i die” must take the most miserable lyrics award, i suppose it would sound good but if you where in that kind of mood though.

AIC was a God of grunge but they were completely different from other Seattle bands.
They were fuckin great!
Usually real metal fans don’t like grunge bands except AIC.
For example you can find nice words about AIC from
Slayer members.

Why is that, by the way? I never understood it. Soundgarden and Nirvana made hard, loud, rocking music. There’s nothing to rant about (except I guess the lyrics which seem whiney to some very tough guys). I could understand if metal fans wouldn’t like bands like the White Stripes or the Strokes, but grunge is really a member of the same musical “family” as metal.

maybe you right but if you listen AIC’s first album called ‘Facelift’, you can see the heavy sound.
I think Soundgarden and Nirvana (in spite of Nirvana’s heaviest album ‘Bleach’) were not have the same heavy volume like AIC.

It all depends on ‘taste’ I guess. ‘Dirt’ is fanfuckingtastic and so is Soundgarden’s ‘Badmotorfinger’.
I have this thing with ‘Rooster’ and ‘Would’, but if you’d wake me up with ‘Jesus Christ Pose’ or ‘Drawing Flies’ I’d probably hugg you ;)
