Astoria, London (Nov 25th, 2003)

#

Started by spinewire

Hey everyone.

I cant seem to see anything about the gig at London Astoria on the 25th of November! There is nothing on their webby regarding Nov 25th for ANY band, let alone Therapy?
This is the year 2003 right?

Am I going insane? Am I really this dim? I dont know, but what I do know is that this is a blind panic in my haste to get tickets!!

Anyway, anyone who cares to help me keep whats left of my sanity is most welcome and appreciated.

The meanfiddler website’s usually the last to have gigs on it, but nme.com are selling the tix, and you can get the Astoria’s number from the meanfiddler site and phone the box office directly.

nme.com are a ripoff for tickets… Over 20 quid for a ticket with a face value of about 13? Madness. I got my ticket for the gig from ticketmaster.co.uk for a more reasonable (but still expensive!) 17 quid all in.

I don’t work for ticketmaster by the way!

I’m often surprised that bands don’t sell tickets for their own gigs via their Web sites, as that would get more money for the band themselves. It seems pretty much anyone else can sell them.. anyone know why this doesn’t happen? I’d rather the band got my cash than some rip-off ticket reseller.

Totally agree, got mine for £16:85 from Stargreen all in. Who is getting this extra money…? I guarantee it’s not the band…!

Not too sure, but I <believe> if you just hang around after the gig, the band may well come out. Can anyone confirm/deny this?

That’s what I was going to try anyway!

See you down the front!

I’ve had better luck going down earlier in the day and catching them as they arrive at the venue, though there’s been plenty of people on this board who’ve met them after a gig too.

That may involve driving very fast from Liverpool… Did think about trying to gate-crash the sound check or something, but then remembered that I’d be the other end of the country for much of the day…

1. The Astoria is locatred at 157 Charing Cross Road, i.e. here: http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?client=public&X=530000 … apsize=big The best tube is Tottenham Court Road

2. No idea, apart from a fair bit smaller, but bigger than the Meanfiddler, where they played earlier this year, and which is next door.

3. Um, not sure, hope so!

Supports were White something-or-other, who I missed, and Amplifier, who I thought were quite good.

Therapy? however, were fantastic - one of the best shows I’ve seen for ages, and a really really long set. Everything seemed to go really well, and it was a brilliant night.

Top performance by T? yet again. Although in the coat queue at the end, I had the type of people I despair about behind me saying “they weren’t as good as previously & they played far too much new stuff”. Clearly some people just expect Troublegum all night

was a great set.
It really annoyed me though when the likes of Punishment Kiss & Dancin With Manson were played, there was no real crowd reaction.

It was great to hear them 2 songs live again though, first time since 93 for me. Thats 10 long fucking years.

But they played stuff from every album, bar Shameless, and they didn’t play as much of HA as earlier in the year! I agree with you . Personally I thought it was the most balanced set I’ve seen them play in recent years.
