We had a MASSIVE turnout for the anti-Bush protests tonight in Bristol, made an extensive feature on the news, I’m off to London tomorrow, and I got the number of an incredibly cute lady on the protests tonight! Result! :D

Well, more than a thousand turned out in Bristol tonight, but the big one’s tomorrow in London. But cheers for the best wishes anyway.

Yeah, I said MORE than a thousand, which could (and does) mean several thousand.

Now fuck off.

I live in Den Haag, so London and Bristol are a bit too far for me but I promise you that if Bush dares to visit our country, I’ll be there! And, as you might know my friend, there are many ways of showing your discontent. How about you?

The beef I have at the moment that all this anti war stance has now turned into an anti american rant.
Burning the US flag, for fucks sack if the yanks hadnt intervened in WWII we would probrably not be alive today for people to do such a thing.

The Americans supplied these countries the weapons now they are dealing with it.

America entered the war mainly because of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. To think it was an act of solidarity with the Allies is ridiculous.

besides, the only reason America liberated us during WOII was because of economical reasons and the because of their good intentions, if they didn’t gain from it they never had done it anyway

Lets’s face it: the US is no democracy. There’s only one political party, the Republicans. The Democrats are no more than a spin-off. Bush didn’t win the elections but stole it and everybody agreed.

I agree with prisonbreaker. If that means I’m having satan up my ass as well, that’s fine with me: Satan you rock! :D

The argument that the UK should have some kind of solidarity with the US because of their help in WW2 has to be one of the most ridiculous I’ve ever heard.

It was sixty years ago! How can it possibly justify the US government’s appalling foreign policy *today*?! Hell, that’s as stupid as holding a grudge against the Germany of today for the Nazis!

The only people I’ve heard wheeling out this ridiculous argument are old people, and it’s understandable and has to be tolerated coming from the elder generation, but from a youngish man (which I assume you are, ianruk), it’s simply laughable!

There are many more reasons why the US are involved in so many conflics around the world. They have to diverse attention from the enormous problems in the US itself which they cannot solve (unemployment, bad healt conditions, racism, bigotry, high crime rates, corruption, pollution, religious fanaticism, etc), off course the weapon industry and oil (Iraq and the rest of the Middle-East)

As far as I see it, the US are the main cause for almost all conflicts and problems nowadays, even starvation in the Third World! And I don’t think it matters who is president. He’s just the puppet of a bunch of guys that run that country (and the world) in co-operation with the CIA and some more organisations.

Just to throw more fuel on the fire…it’s made me sick to see Bush posing with the Royal Family. Guess which photos the US people will be shown during the forthcoming re-election campaign? It certainly won’t be the 200,000 people in London yesterday, calling him and Blair “terrorists”, “war criminals”, “murderers”, and just plain “wankers”, that’s for sure.

I mean, come on, him and Blair (and the official photographers presumably) even went for a ‘pub lunch’ together today. How fucking cosy and chummy of them.

Pity a terrorist hadn’t managed to poison their fish and chips.

It says a lot about your royal family as well. But off course Blair told them what to do and when and he uses them for his and Bush’s profits. Nevertheless I don’t think both of them will be re-elected. For the UK and for the US it won’t matter at all, I’m afraid. Such a pity there are only two parties in those countries. I don’t call that democracy.

Three in the UK my friend! The Liberal Democrats, although unfortunately they haven’t got their act together at all. So easily could have overtaken the Tories to become the second party, but just did…not enough! Shame, their leader was a popular and very amusing host on one of our topical news-quiz TV prgrammes as well… :)

As for your point about the government now being able to tell the Royal Family what to do - I’m torn, because as much as I dislike the current governement I’m also pleased to see the monarchy losing power ;)

You’ re right, I forgot about the Liberal Democrats. Shows how less the importance of that party is recognised in Holland. And, I agree on your point about the (English) royal family and monarchy as an institution.
Unfortunately most of the Dutch are still in favour of the monarchy, but I’m convinced that our next king, William the 4th, will be known as William the Last. It’s getting harder and harder for those bastards and even our PM doesn’t know how to cope with all the scandals. So far we had some great satire on tv :)

He always came off very well on Have I Got News For You i think the Lib Dems will do ok in the next election but the Tories will just come out ahead of them and Labour will stay in power for a third term.
I don’t think the Monarchy have any real power now at all they are just get wheeled out for State visits and anniversaries.

The US and the UK have always had a special relationship regardless who is in power on either side of the Atlantic,i was watching the news on friday and one reporter said members of Bush’s Election campaign were very happy with the visit.I think Bush will get re-elected again and i wonder who he will start a war with next?

I bet they were happy with it!

As for the next war good ol’ Dubya starts, hmmm, Iran or Syria I’d guess. North Korea are too much of a threat and have warned nuclear retaliation if attacked - and like all bullies, Bush is a coward!

Iran most likely: caviar ;). You can forget Syria. The US need Syria to keep Israel busy. Without Syria as an opponent, Israel will become too powerful in that region and might even become a treat to US benefits in the oilfields in Iraq and Kuwait. I fear for Cuba.
