The Scorpions lots of years ago. I don’t even remember why I went there, but I regretted every moment.

Also, the Jesus And Mary Chain. I love their early stuff, esp. Psychocandy, but that show - some years ago in Düsseldorf - was so lame.

The worst show I’ve been to was New Found Glory at the Glasgow Barrowlands. Until then I was a fan, well, I thought they were OK, but after that I thought they sucked.
Helium-voiced pop-rock with enough girls screaming you’d think you were at an N’ Sync gig.

Although having said that, I took one of my friends to see Slipknot at the Barrowlands in 2000 and that sucked SO bad. 9 “keraazeee” talentless losers in boiler-suits that were so unco-ordinated it was a joke. Getting 4 people to play together is hard enough, but don’t EVEN attempt (?) to have a band with 9 people if you’re not talented enough.

Oh, and the worst support band I’ve seen was that second support band supporting Finch when they played The Glasgow Cathouse last year. I’m not even going to give them the satistfaction of trying to find out what their name was. Goddamn did they suck. My ears were ringing the next day from the vocalist’s nasal voice. I think if I risk tinnitus (?), I should at least enjoy it!:)

Placebo.
Tha show was sold-out, the venue is the best in town, the audience was great. I had fun indeed.
The only problem: they seemed oh! so bored to be there and play for us.
I don’t really care to understand why. I know they’d been touring hard, but in the end it seems to me a complete lack of respect for people buying tickets to give such a show.

Title: Worst Gig and worst support…

Worst gig ever is no contest really - Incubus at Glasgow SECC. Absolutely shite! I managed 5 songs before leaving! I haven’t even listened to their CD’s since then!

Worst support - again no contest - has to be Defenestration who T? had on tour with them. Fucking garbage!

I was there too. he stormed off-stage before I could assassinate him with a roll of toilet paper. Shite.

I saw the Smashing Pumpkins at the Bradly Center (a basketball arena)and, as has been said about them time and again, the accoustics were terrible, Billy Corgan belted out the lyrics with reckless abandon, and they just played the wrong notes (to their own songs no less) through the whole show. The only good thing about the show was I had a seat.

Memories come back to haunt me: more terrible shows come to mind.
As I read something about Guns’N’Roses in another thread I clearly remember their show at the Müngersdorfer Stadion in Cologne to be among the worst of all times. What saved the day back then were Faith No More and Soundgarden opening for them. Ben Sheperd, the bass player of Soundgarden, summed the whole G’n’R show up by puking on stage. :D

I was at that too. I thought it was alright. I was so far back that the sound system was bad though - or was it like that near the front too? ;)

For me it would be Fly Pan Am. For a while I was really into that post-rock constellation stuff (i’d seen them supporting GYBE, who i still like), but when I saw Fly Pan Am at their own gig it was just such a shite drone. Pretty expensive too.

I’ve probably been to worse, but Fly Pan Am is definately up there.

LunacyBooth, you are so right. I went to see Incubus at the SECC for the tour promoting Morning View, a fucking awful album in itself, and I was just disgusted. Not disappointed, disgusted. I’d seen them half a year earlier at the Barrowlands supported by Hundred Reasons and they were miles better.

And Defenestration… I don’t know how the fuck T? could ever want a band like them as a support act. They’re just talentless, playing the same 3 note riff over and over with a podgy girl doing the standard growly nu-metal vocals. I suffered them twice

The worst I saw was Ash at Southampton Guildhall in about 96 or 97. They had such little presence that you may as well have just stuck a CD player in the middle of the stage and whacked on their cd. It was so bad right that the support band Bis (yes Bis!) were far superior (in the context of that one gig only I might add)

my personal worst would have to be when i saw the unbelievable truth a few years back. they were so boring that we actually got told off by security for talking. not shouting, or laughing or anything, just talking. quietly. at the back of the club. it was truly terrible.

Actually saw an interview in Q or something with them years later where they admitted that it was the worst gig they’d ever done. Couldn’t have agreed more.

one this thread has reminded me of, though, is Andrew W.K. - all the charisma of a wet rag, totally upstaged by his backing band of “spinal tap - the cheapo sitcom offshoot”-rejects, couldn’t sing for toffee… sad.
