I agree with you, but he is a good role model 4 people who go on Ricky Lake and copy him. If they didn’t spend all there time putting on the make up and stuff, they’d probably be out kiling people, like me for instance. But he is shit, and I don’t like him.

yea atleast he’s something. he isnt wasting his time analyzing and judging other’s on message boards but rather using his first amendment and adding expression to idea’s that he has. and people are listening and that’s good. very good.

Well well Barbie. Hello and welcome. But I wouldn’t call Marilyn Manson a role model. Some of those people who dress up quite similar, might be quite nice people, who aren’t interested in killing people. You can’t judge people by the way they look, that stereotypical, and nice in today’s PC world.

mr manson has nothing clever, important, meaningful, or witty to say.

He, just like our masked friends slipknot, got to where they are simply because of the way they look.
We need more bands like therapy? and the smiths
I don’t think I need to say any more on the matter.

mr manson gets attention for what he does not how he dresses and what makes him get even more attention is the fact that he backs up what he say’s.
if it was only about his dress mags would only take pictures of him. but they take interviews and thats where the controversy starts.
all hair metal bands used to dress up to but they didnt have anything to say so no one cared.

Maybe a lot of people who copy him are nice and don’t need a vice so as not to kill anyone, but either way they’re NOT harming anyone by copying Mansun so I’m grateful for that. And maybe he is stopping a small minority of people from being nasty. I don’t think he has anything important to say, cos his job is to make music, not to sort out world issues. If he has opinions to voice then fine, but at the end of the day, it’s the music that counts not how he looks or what he says. And in music mags, i think it’s safe to say that all musicians featured are at one time or another interviewed as well as photographed, whether they have stuff to say or not and regardless of the way they look.

Even though I don’t like Mr manson’s music, I respect his efforts to try something a bit different and to shock as many people as possible, it’s just a pitty that his music doesn’t have the same effect. To be honest (and I don’t wish to offened anyone) the songs that I have heard have very little identity, or originality and there are too many bands who sound like that. For example, the song used at the end of ‘the Matrix’ just after R.A.T.M’s ‘wake up’, sounds nothing like the other stuff of his (that I’ve heard). To be honest I thought it sounded like a modern David Bowie song.
I suppose that’s what I like about bands like therapy?, you can instantly tell it’s Andy singing (especially on the new songs), he’s got his own stlye of singing and that’s what I think Marilyn Manson unfortunatly lacks.
Maybe I’m wrong and just ignorant, but I was just voicing my opinion on the matter. To be honest I don’t know whether I’m right or not!
let me know if you agree?

Slipknot are shit. Simple as that. I mean don’t you think that 9 people in a band is a bit too much? They really are terrible and I’m glad they won’t be coming near Newcastle.
Oh and the only thing that I respect about Marilyn Mansun is that he once made a load of money for doing nothing! He was going to perfrom in Texas I think, and the local church bought all of the tickets so the fans couldn’t go! I think for once the church did something right. They spared those people who wanted to go to the gig, having to listen to such shitty (*ahem*) music

there’s no such thing as apolitical music. your just a reflection of the enviromemnt you grew up in which is shaped by the political and economic sitiuations around you. so whether you like it or not you are reflecting that.
music is a very good way to get your point across. there’s nothing as good as poetry with music. rage against the machine are a good example of that.
i like bands that have a message or meaning. manson has a lot to say and i’m glad that he can get his point across and people have access to it.

Slipknot are bad, but what’s this too many band members policy? Don’t get that. Anyway, you’re not always going to reflect the environment in which you grew up. That’s like saying no-one can change - ever. They can. And they do. Even whilst you’re growing up you can be different from everyone around you and not have anything in common with anyone you know (now here is where i’m an expert!). That’s because you’re you. And what’s around you only effects you to the extent which you let it.

I support Marliyn Manson cos

(1) He IS clever, witty and has a lot to say (I know Ive been going on about his autobiography but READ IT!)

(2) In the chart run down or whatever you see a manufactured group talking about the love of their lives or whatever, followed by a 6ft naked skinny white man with ‘tits’ and no genitals singing about sodomy and drugs - hes a refeshing alternative and hes funny!

(3) He pisses people off (even hardened T? fans!)

OK its unfortunate that many kids take him too seriously and he does rip off a lot of other acts (Bowie, A Cooper, NIN), and they may not be especially musically gifted but hes still one of the most ‘alternaive’ artists of the 90s

Oh yeah and Slipknot suck pretty bad

i agree slipknot suck.
you are what you are because of the enviroment you grew up in. nowhere did i say you cant change if you ‘change’ it’s because of the circumstances that you are in.
with that said it’s no suprize that rage against the machine come from LA because it’s a cultural mixing point and there’s a lot of tension.
same with therapy? i cant think of anywhere else that they could have come from. it were unique circumstances that made them.
manson uses music to express himself. he has every right to.

OK, I suppose the environment you grow up in does have an effect, I just think it can wear off, you can make it do that. I suppose when you look at bands like Therapy? you can see that their music reflects their background and their background made them like they are. I agrre with that, i think I was arguing for the sake of it.

it’s like you can have parents who are racists and prejudiced in many other ways. you will either believe them or you are going to rebel against them. many who dont question will just live like thier parents and there are some who will rebel and to give meaning to that rebellion they’ll take up music and express themselves and that provides other kids in similar situations something to identify with.
so they turned out that way because of what they went through growing up. it’s just a reflection.
