Amplifier

Andy thanks Amplifier and says they rock in his ‘best fans in the world’ post in the diary section, but I’m not sure if that feeling would be returned from the Amplifier guys. The reason I say that is because I interviewed Amplifier at the Portsmouth gig recently and I asked Sel (the singer) if he was a Therapy? fan, and he said he’d never heard of them until they started the tour, but he thought they were ok. Cock!

I think they suck… I found White Light Motorcade more interesting on the last tour than Amplifier, they’re too “fake-artistic shit” ( I don’t know how to say that in english but in finnish that is “teko-taiteellista paskaa”…) and we spent the time Amplifier was on stage refreshing ourselves. ;o)

Agreed. I thought Amplifier were a bit crap, their songs seemed over-long & it was difficult to tell where one track ended & another begun. White Light Motorcade I thought were pretty damn cool & definitely worth a listen. In essence, WLM were ROCK, whereas Amplifier were WASHING.

I think they played with Clutch in Preston a few years back, they were pretty decent.

I also saw them play on the Infernal Love tour and the both support bands were bollocks - one had someone from the Wonder Stuff in - can’t remember the names though.

On the Infernal Love tour they were supported by Skunk anansie and Joyrider, at least in Germany.
My favourite support acts were The Notwist and Bivouac on the Nurse tour, the Doughboys on tzhe first part of the Troublegum tour and, of course, Terrorvision and Pet Lamb on the second part of it.
Those good old days.. I think over the last years the support acts have become pretty dull with the absolute low point being Defenestration.

On the UK Infernal Love tour they had an American band that had an album called ‘Bastards of Melody’ which sounded really cool until they played… then the realisation that they were a bit wank kicked in.

Who supported them on the first UK leg of the High Anxiety tour?

I went but I have total fucking mindblock!

I cannot believe none of you have mentioned the magnificent Credit To The Nation, supporting UK ‘94 :p My vote would probably go to Schtum though (UK ‘95) :D

edit: 3 Stages of Pain and Miss Black America supported, deadsetgav, but I failed to see either of them which is a shame as I heard some MBA on their website and they sounded cool. 3SoP didn’t go down too well though, as I recall.

you tend to forget that on the scale T? tour on now, we get different supports in the UK to mainland Europe.

On the Nurse tour they had the mighty Kerbdog doing support duties when they played the S.F.X. in Dublin. And of course they’ve had great bands like Joyrider and Pet Lamb opening for them too!

Why do I have the impression that the Wildhearts supported T? once? Is that right or I remember wrong?

Both bands are good mates, so it could have happened. The Wildhhearts opened for Alice in Chains in the S.F.X. many a year ago and were very good. Stuck around for a chat after too, which was nice.

I think Andy guests on their last album, but not too sure about that.

Pet Lamb supported on a couple of dates in 1996 too, they were fucking unreal - so much intensity… they were class.

Kerbdog were a great band too, but unfortunately I never saw them support T? in 1994.

Whipping Boy in 1997 were cool as well.

We poor finns have always missed T?’s support acts because of the journey and it’s expenses. I recall The Doughboys is the only band that we saw from the “real” support bands…
I know that I would have enjoyed Joyrider and Skunk Anansie as well SubUrban Tribe…

Is the White Light Motorcade album any good? Might have to get it. Thanks to Taunty Dan for mentioning Defenestration - I’d managed to block out that memory until now. A fat baby spice screaming at us & trying to rouse some enthusiam. The Wolvo crowd was not impressed… Truly awful.

The White Light Motorcade is actually a very enjoyable affair…i could go into the influences yadda yadda…but it just simply rocks…They supported Therapy? at the Garage in Glasgow last year…and they gave it their all…bags of energy and there were only about 15 people there…The should have been on second and the pish that is Amplifier should have played to 15 people.

Anyway…White light Motorcade album is worth the five quid it set me back…absolute bargain of last year

Bit confused. ‘Bastards of Melody’ supported Terrorvision back during the Regular Urban Survivors tour, but I didn’t know they supported Therapy?. And did Terrorvision actually support Therapy?? That would have been great to see!

And I used to listen to The Driven. Not sure what happened to them but they were really good. Did anyone listen to Cecil (before they became Voy)? they were a really intense band who should have done much better.

On the second part of the Troublegum tour, back in December 1994 Terrorvision and Pet Lamb were support acts at leats on the shows in Germany.
