Title: Wildhearts tour

You MIGHT be in luck. The Wildhearts are now in the USA until 18 April (which was the Cardiff date). It seems possible that they could be back for about the 20th or 21st and the Glasgow date is on 24 April. So it would make sense for them to keep the dates that they can still play and only reschedule the ones they can’t (one of which is mine, in Bristol). There should be details in the next couple of days - keep an eye on their website.

easy now! I do think they’ve got it the wrong way round, but the wildhearts are pretty good, and their audience may well appreciate therapy?.

I’m glad we only got tickets coming to Hammersmith-gig and we were going anyway to London… To see Therapy? was just a “bonus” and not the purpose of our trip. So no harm done except the tickets which we will get refund obviously.

The Wildhearts went just for the fame and wealth, as you can read from http://www.thewildhearts.com/news.shtml

I don’t think that’s entirely fair. To take a point from your earlier post, I think you’ll love them when you see them, but regarding the ‘fame and wealth’ issue, they’re on a record label that has let them down at every turn, and if you had had the run of luck that they had recently, you would have done the same. I can understand the frustration (particularly of a small number of people who had plane tickets for cancelled US dates) but really, the only people they’ve ever let down over the years have been themselves… the fans generally get a very good deal. If only they could have controlled things in the mid-late 90s, they’d be massive by now.

The ties between The Wildhearts and The Darkness (read the news item on their site if you don’t know what I’m on about) go back longer than the last couple of months. The bands were personal friends a long time before the latter had any level of success, so this wasn’t simply a case of ‘hitch onto the big band’s tour’.

I didn’t meant to offend anyone by saying that they went for the money. It just was a reaction that struck me after reading that message on Wildhearts’ page about cancelling a booked tour in UK in favor of US gigs. I don’t know shit about them and I think that never will… But that is my fault, nobody’s else. ;)

Shit happens, I’m sure you’ll get over it :p

But euh… of course I hope everything can go ahead like you originally planned…

You soon will, when you see the gigs. The two bands are kindred spirits with good reason. And the best news of all is that your gig date now looks like it will be unchanged! Keep an eye on the website.

just come across this board so may be repeating what other people have said.

as far as capacity of venues goes the liquid rooms in edinburgh used to be 600 but then to reduced to 500 because it broke fire regulations (the floor is below ground level and it takes ages to get people out of the place because the stairs are so narrow). they well have changed it back to 600 again but I didn’t think they had.

t? can pretty much sell out both the liquid rooms and garage by themselves so I find it odd that they would come back there to play as a support. It would make sense if they were playing much bigger venues (but then maybe they are on the rest of the tour)

On the other hand the last few times I have seen t? I think the numbers have been going down slightly so maybe a good idea to play as support to remind other fans what a great band they are.

I know what you mean. You’d think they’d be able to find somewhere bigger than the Liquid Rooms to play in Edinburgh. Maybe the Corn Exchange is a bit optimistic in Ediburgh, but I think The Wildhearts and Therapy? together could fill the Barrowlands. The Wildhearts played there last year, supporting Amen (or was it the other way round?).

robert wrote:

yes I agree the corn exchange is too big but there is the queen’s hall which is roughly 1000 and considering both bands could sell out liquid rooms I think that would have been a better choice.

I had forgotten but you are right - the wildhearts played barrowlands last april (and they did headline) - I’m sure the 2 bands together could come close to filling it.

A lot of the listings in scotland are still not mentioning therapy? so I guess they only agreed to support at such a late stage they couldn’t change the venues.

Is the Queen’s Hall the one on South Clerk street? I saw mogwai play there last year and it was pretty cool. I liked the venue.

Title: Queens Hall

My first Therapy? gig was at the Queens Hall, Edinburgh 1993 - over 10 years ago!

I’ve seen the Wildhearts there too.

Nice wee venue, but the Liquid Rooms usually has a better sound.

Therapy? opened with Opal Mantra. They also played Auto Surgery, Innocent X etc. good stuff.

Title: Therapy? + The Wildhearts - a dream come true (merged thread)

A few years back I would have killed to see this line-up. Unfortunately this isn’t going to happen in Austria where I live. Can someone please tell Ginger that there are people outside of the U.K. and Japan (and Turkey for that matter) who want to see The ‘Hearts live?

The Liquid Rooms is alright for watching the band. It’s small enough to see the members up close and the moshpits for the last few gigs I went to there weren’t too big, so you could easily make your way down to the front.

There’s a balcony as well, in case you’re a lazy bastard, which will give a pretty good view of the stage and you might even bump into the T? boys enjoying the support band’s set up there.
