Title: Kits

Sorry to correct you, but i’m afraid your partly right, but also, partly wrong. Neil at present, uses a Mapex orion traditional maple drum kit with sabian cymbals. he was indorsed by Zildjian, but he dropped them when 3 of his cymbals broak and they didn’t ship any replacements out to him in amsterdam. Tama are in the process of getting him indorsed, but at present, he plays a mapex kit.

Drums.

2 22 x 18 base drums, 1 12 x 8 rack tom, 1 18 x 16 inch floor tom, 1 pearl freefloating snare drum, and 1 yamaha piccalo snare drum.

Cymbals.
a pair of 14 inch high hats, 1 18 inch crash, 1 19 inch crash 1 20 inch ride, 1 20 inch china and 1 bell cymbal, the only Zildjian cymbal in his cymbal set up.

He uses vickfirth 5a sticks.

Hear’s something that you all should know. Neil cooper is my drum teacher, and he teaches the drums to every one else in Derby where both he and i presently live

A free floating snare drum is a snare drum with exchangeable shells. They normally come with Brass shells, but you can exchange them for maple, beach or burch. Both neil and i think that these snare drums are fantastic.

All this drum talk is confusing me :) I have to admit that even having played with a few drummers (I play the guitar and bass) I wouldn’t have a clue as to describe their kits. I like reading your posts about kits though, keep posting :) I love talking shop.

I guess he’s asking if Neil’s piccalo snare gives the same sound, or “bong”, that Fyfe’s timbale snare did…

…and the answer is yes, as can be judged from the performance of Teethgrinder on the Scopophobia DVD.
