Title: festival

I don’t get why there couldnt be a cool outdoor gig here in northern ireland , would it be so hard to get a few decent bands who originated from here to play? , obviously Therapy? and i suppose ash would be okay as co headliners. I cant think of anyone else at the minute, maybe organisers have that same problem?
I remember there was an outdoor show a few years back and i think kula shaker was about the most rocking band there , obviously i didnt go.

I think it would be good if The guys played at the limelight this time if they play belfast, y’know for variation.

Anyway…!!!!

He just told me this morning that “R.O.T.P.” have been approached to support THERAPY? in Cypress Avenue. The new venue over The Old Oak pub.

Apparently there are posters up in the pub for the show, so it must be true.

WHHHOOOOOAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYY…!!!!!!!

Here’s hoping…

Cypress Avenue, eh? Never heard of it, but why do I think its going to be TINY?!! I thought the half moon club would be the logical place for T? to play now that Henrys is no more and the Savoy lost its licence.

Still, i guess a small venue would be quite cool actually.

Being the nosy and impatient bastard that I am, I just rang The Old Oak.

They entertainments manager said that it’s about 90% set up.
The band are playing some festival or something in Belfast the day before, and in England the next day. But they’re hoping to make it to Cork in between.

And I spelled it wrong. It’s CYPRUS AVENUE.

I saw the Rulers supporting Turn in Cork a few months ago - they were class! I bought their EP as a result. Good stuff.

If this is true (and I fear it’s not) I’ll definitely be going. If not, it’ll be another quiet night in at the realityfuck household watching Scopophobia.

As I said before, Therapy? are NOT supporting The Wildhearts in Dublin. For confirmation, check out the latest news item, posted by mr. McKeegan, in which he says:

“Unfortunately the only show we can’t do is the Dublin one on the 30th April. Sorry Dublin dudes.”

The shows in Belfast and Cork have been confirmed now, though. Go to the tour dates page for the current list of forthcoming shows.

To avoid further confusion, I guess you mean Belfast, not Dublin here, as is in the tour dates list. ;)

Oops! You’re absolutely right. I’ve modifed my original post accordingly, to avoid any possible confusion with people scanning the thread. Cheers for the heads up!

Well the obvious choice would have been The Savoy. An absolutely brilliant venue for bands like T?. But it was refused a new licence and was shut down.

Where else is there…?????
The Opera House(main stage) would never host a band like T? but The Half Moon would, which is as small as Cyprus Av.
Nancy Spains is a bit bigger, but that’s a fucking hole of a place anyway. Full of arty farty pricks at the best of times. (No offense to anyone from WOM who drinks there…)

I quite like Nancys, even though you need to know when its likely to be packed with students so you know when to avoid it (and i AM a student!).

I would have thought T? would be playing the half moon alright. Could someone in the know please give me a heads up on what this Cyprus Avenue venue is like? The last time I was in the Oak was about 5 years ago, and I remember a Beatles cover band playing downstairs. Surely thats not where the gig is going to be??

And for what its worth, I read on some website that tickets for this gig are going on sale in the Old Oak on the morning of Sat the 20th of March.

The entrance is around the corner on Caroline St.
It used to be just a function room that they hired out for parties and stuff.

And MONEYCULT…!!! which website did you read about the tickets going on sale on Saturday.?

If thats the function room I’m thinking of then its going to be a tight squeeze…

How annoying, I can’t find the site that told me about the tickets going on sale. I just typed “cypress avenue cork” into google and it was one of the first results. google must have changed its search algorithm or something.

Anyways, I’d imagine the people in the oak will be able to tell us for sure.
