T? Hangouts

Started by Red_Mist

Anyone ever bumped into a member of T? unexpectedly? The bassist in my band bumped into Andy in a Ballyclare Chippy a few years ago and another mate saw Michael in Auntie Annies in Belfast a while back as well. I’ve met the guys on several occassions at their gigs, but never unexpectedly.

Any of you had the good fortune of a chinwag with the guys outside of a gig?

I’m sorry but without implying something I have to say that inadvertedly the song “Gay Bar” by Electric Six popped in my head.

I met Andy Cairns at Dublin airport back in about 1996.
I was just flying back from Ireland and he was flying out somewhere.
Had a quick chat and got my pic taken with him.

The ‘closest’ I got was at my girlfriend’s work do at Christmas, where one of her colleagues had brought a girl that went to the same school as Michael, but was a couple of years below him. Appprently she and her mates all thought he was really cool.

How amenable are the guys to being approached when they’re not working - would they mind you saying hi if they were out with their family etc.? I saw Jonathon Ross today, with about 10 kids, but decided not to interrupt what looked like a family & friends afternoon.

I don’t think they’d mind although, i mean my friends saw them in social public places, and the guys where happy to talk.

Don’t think this is true, just a coincidence of surnames, but apparently my music teacher was Andy’s dad. Found this out after leaving school of course but think my mate made it up.

Title: Friend of a friend…

Okay, I don’t know if this is true, but it’s kind of funny anyway. A friend of mine said that some years ago he was walking along the road with his mate (not sure where, but he lives in Weymouth…), and they saw Andy on the otherside walking along. This guy started shouting out, like:’Andy! Hey ANDY! ANDREW! ANDEEEE! ANDY!!’ and Andy turned round and bellowed back ‘FUCKING _WHAT_?!?!’ The guy was too stunned to say anything and Andy walked off. :)
