First post on here and I HATE to tell ya but i just found this…

THERAPY? Back To A Three-Piece - Mar. 18, 2004

As of March 16, 2004, Martin McCarrick (guitar/cello) is no longer a member of THERAPY? and all future recordings and live work will be performed as a trio. “We appreciate that this may come as a surprise to our fans and friends, however the reasons for this decision are purely professional rather than personal,” the band said in a statement. “This was far from an easy decision to make as Martin has been an important part of the band for nine years but we feel that this is the best way to ensure a positive future for THERAPY? We wish Martin all the best with his future projects, musically or otherwise.”

THERAPY? will kick off a U.K. tour with THE WILDHEARTS in late April. The group have also been working on the material for the follow-up to last year’s “High Anxiety”, tentatively due in early 2005 through Spitfire Records. Songtitles set to appear on the as-yet-untitled CD include “Polar Bear”, “Long Distance”, “Here Be Monsters” and “Panic!”.

Bugger. Sorry if this has been posted already. Could anyone confirm this? Cheers!

Yep…all confirmed! Martin has left. Bugger. They where good at the barfly though as a 3 piece.

So much for the 10 year plan. Did he jump - or was he pushed?

What the fuck happened?
This is all a bit sudden.

Has it anything to do with why he wasn’t playing with the band recently?

I’d like to be the first to say it’s a real shame but to wish him all the best for the future. Good luck Martin x

its odd as he said on feb 28th on this board “I will be out on tour without a doubt” - what happened in the space of 2 weeks??

if he was leaving for professional reasons as the news section says then wouldn’t he have known then that he wasn’t going to be on the tour.

Cheers guys. I’m pretty much fighting fit and ready to rock again!

So what the hell has happened? And while being a 3 piece might be thought of as ‘back-to-basics’ and cool, I personally think the best thing Therapy? ever did was getting another guitarist. It added so much to the live sound! As a guitarist and as a member of the Therapy? community, Martin will be missed.

Care to comment Martin?

Anyway, this is a very sad day :(

Martin if you still read this: I wish you all the best in whatever you do, you were/are a brilliant musician and a great guy who was always up for a chat with the fans.

I also got the impression he had to leave, i’m sure there’s a good reason for that but i don’t see what that might be

this statement says it all… he was fired, asked to leave, however you want to say it…

question now is: why?

That was my first and very angry reaction. I just opened a bottle of red and Sandra and I will drink it to Martin’s health and good fortune.

What has happened? Indeed it looks like he was asked to leave. We can only guess to the reason why. I hope the lads will let us in on ‘the joke’. Maybe it has to do with his health problems… We can only guess, but for the moment I think it’s a great loss.
Martin is a very good musician and a great person, always friendly and open to the fans. I met him some years ago in Den Haag when he played with Andy at the Crossing Border festival. The conversation we had was brief, but intense. I immediately liked the guy. I will surely miss his riffs, his cello and his voice. So much for this nine year plan…

Take care Martin, lots off love and good luck from Sandra and 3ddo!!

Fuck! That seems very weird and sudden- I logged on here yesterday morning and noticed that though he didn’t post, Martin was on here looking about and what not. What happend? Man that sucks.

But still, all the best to Martin in whatever he does next. Also, a big thankyou for being part of Therapy? and making great music thats helped in so many ways over the years.

Could say more but it doesn’t seem right written down so I’ll just say;

Cheers Mr McC!

Right! I’m going to attack the red wine aswell!
