Awright that was my first impression. I am sure T? is gonna be great on, make a lot of super cool albums but somehow I have a feeling that we will always bear in our minds that Martins departure was a great loss. He was a hell of a cellist and Guitar rider.

Of course martin is a great loss for the band, especially for the live sound. Apart from that I was looking forward to some cello sounds on the next album as well, but it shouldn’t be.
So I wish both sides - martin and the remaining t? lads - all the best for the future.
rock on, big cheers and respect.

martin, thanks for the great years, I really hope to hear some more great music from you in the future! I think you’re a great loss for the band (I only started to listen to tpy? when they were already a fourpiece), so it will be pretty strange to see only 3 men on stage. Still, I’m sure there’s a logical explanation for all this. Respect !

Well, it’s not that I don’t respect your opinion, but I think Martin really was an important member to me. Ok, in the beginning there where 3 of them, they made great music, but after infernal love it came extremely quite around the band, I think that time they realy needed Martin!! They seemed to have fun again on stage, TOGETHER, all four of them. At the end with Fyfe, I had the idea it was 2 against 1, probably because Fyfe wasn’t motivated anymore. I believe Martin saved Therapy? that time. If they wouldn’t have found Martin, would they still have existed? I’m not quite sure. I’m very gratefull to Martin for ‘saving’ (that’s what I think, I may be wrong) my favourite band, as well as for beeing a part of them. I realy hope they’ve got the power now to move on as a 3-piece.

I am still really shocked by this news and I think that some more information about Martin leaving Therapy? would not hurt anyone.
As I said earlier,I don’t think we need to have the details but a little bit of explanation would be right.
I mean maybe it is an idea to send all the people on the mailing list a little message which is not so formal and distant.
The message on the website was very un-Therapyish (???) and strange, I actually had to read it twice before I really understood what the message was.

yeah, i had the same feeling about it, now everything gets so serious and I’m not really used to that from T?, but is is a serious thing though,
hopefully we soon get some more information, i think it’s the least the fans could ask

Hi,
heard the news earlier, but found only time now to react. I don’t think it has anything to do with sack someone or don’t like someone or lowering costs… Seems to me that maybe they had an other perception of how T? would of should sound like in the future… could it be that?
Anyway, I met T? in Brussels last year, after their show in the Botanique, and also had some chitchat with Martin. Great guy!
For me also he has been a very important T? member with great influence on their sound, especially when performing live…
T? will never be the same…
Nevertheless they will certainly keep up the good rocking mood… no doubt ‘bout that…
but I’ll miss Martin! Good luck fellow, see you around!

Title: Martin leave’s therapy?
I didn’t actually found out about martin’s quitting the band until this afternoon, and Neil’s explained the reason.
1, health problems.
Don’t forget that Martin is still suffering from a damaged ear drum, and is still not allowed to play on stage.
2, musical differences.
nlike Andy, michael and Neil, Martin was trained classically And so therefore his musical tastes would differ verry verry much from the rest of the gies.
Besides, martin only did sessions for therapy before joining, and he may be restricted to doing studio work instead of going live.
Like the rest of you gies, i’m sorry to hear about his departure, if he carries on playing with therapy, chances are that he’ll be come perminently def.

I tend to believe this “professional reasons” explanation. But leaving a band - or sacking a bandmember - is a grave decision and does certainly affect the relations of the people involved on a personal level.
This brief bulletin was signed by the remainig trio and in implicates that it was their decision, not Martins. At least that’s the way I read it.
Martin left the band during a song-writing and demo-recording process, or short after so I guess if they parted for personal reasons, it was about a creative issue.
Ergo, I’m pretty sure the next album will sound totally different to HA
I don’t believe they just thought about making more money as a threepiece and sacked him therefore.

I don´t want to hurt any of you guys … I really don´t like the idea that martin was kicked out or leaving T?
But when i remember the feelings i had when martin joined the band i need to say, that i always prefered T? as a 3 piece band. Although i really liked Martin and what he played.
But as i like the older T? songs more than the new ones. I prefer the old line up (Fyfe, Michael and Andy) also.
That doesn´t mean that i like what happened or appreciate it. Cause T? moved on.
But i hope they will do it also this time!
I will miss the chello parts most! But Martin played second guitar more often on their last tour together. I didn´t like the idea that most chello parts were played with the guitar.
Perhaps they get some 4th member just for the next tour. But i wouldn´t appreciate this. I like it, when bands have their fix line up.

Perhaps that was the reason mike smiled? :)

I’m gutted. Truly gutted. I only started going to T? gigs in 1998, so for me, Martin was as much a part of Therapy? as Andy and Michael. Given that only a week ago Martin was saying he’s ready to rock again, and “no doubt” will be on tour, i can only assume that he’s leaving the band against his wishes.
Either way for me now, after 57 Therapy? gigs in the space of 6 years, i shall now no longer be going to live shows. I have a ticket for Norwich in May, and i shall go for one last time.
For me, the shows without Martin when he was ill were just not right. They were flat and lacking the extra depth Martin brings to the the band.
All good things must come to an end.
Take care Martin, best wishes for the future.
Nick.

I’m not going to speculate. I just ask a decent explanation. We support the band for many years and we are entitled to know the real reason for his leave.
Setting this up as a simple news item is a shame and definitely not respectful, nor for us, nor for Martin. If we don’t get more than this, you can stick your “best fans of the world” up yours.

I’m sure T? have a lot to talk about and sort out themselves, but a short message which looks like some fucking lawyer wrote it is not enough.
Everybody who has met Martin knows he’s a cool guy and everyone who’s seen him play know he’s an outstanding musician and will be sorely missed.
Sorry it’s a Monday morning rant, but I was hoping to know more after the weekend and there is still nothing. Please let us know whats going on guys!

Ok,
I have been reading the post about Martin leaving Therapy? and I am really astonished by some reactions by some people in that topic.Therapy? have always been very open towards us which is very good, but the things written about Michael and Andy are really a punch below the belt: We don’t know what happened…Some things are really insulting, like saying they fired Martin or that splitting the money with the 3 of them is better…You should know better than that…never forget that they don;t owe us anything but albums and gigs;)…
I say: Rock on Therapy? and I say Martin, do the same!

I moved your thread into this one, as it’s still really on this topic. And I add that I totally agree with your sentiment. I know people are upset, of course we are, but if the guys all felt this was the best way to go then we should be respectful of that and have less of this nonsense about it being monetary and the like.
