Hey. Not a bad gig. Support by Thirst and Dog Toffee.
Someone thru a beer that went over some of Martin’s and Andy’s gear as they came on. Martin made a comment about ensuring the glass was empty before it was thrown on stage. Then their gear started buzzing and Andy had a justified rant at the guy/girl who did that. And then he seemed pissed off throughout the whole gig. Dunno if it was down to that or something else, but there we go. He still dedicated Die Laughing to all the fans who stick by them, and anyone else can have his cock shoved up their arse…
Songs, vaguely in the right order — anyone correct me?:
Knives
Nausea
Turn
Little Tongues First
Bad Mother (Martin on cello)
Stop It You’re Killing Me (Martin on cello)
He’s Not That Kind Of Girl
Church Of Noise
Bad Karma Follows You Around
Joey (it did sound like they were going to so into Six Mile Water but didn’t)
Die Laughing
Nowhere
Diane
Evil Elvis (encore)
Potato Junkie |
Screamager | can’t remember order of these two
Michael seemed to be having a great time, bouncing around a _lot_ more than I usually remember… bouncing around energetically to everything, pointing to _everyone_, broad smile…
What else — dunno really… I can’t wait to hear Joey on record, cracking song.
I for one came away with a big grin on my face… having seen three gigs in the last 10 days or so (and managing to drop out of the Saturday Camden one as well) I was knackered when I got there, and thought I would just stand out of the stampede and enjoy the show. I lasted two bars into the first song, Knives, if that, and I couldn’t help myself. Fantastic.
One negative comment — maybe it was just me, but Portsmouth had some of the biggest arseholes in the crowd — who seem to derive too much fun from really shoving people across the room and elbowing and kicking to get space… just a little too much. Odd.
