Hi.

Gill from Glasgow here. I will sort out an avatar and sig soon. I’m 27, i sing i a band called Yer Maw and i’m an old school indie kid (from before every band decided to call themselves indie).

Too wide a musical liking to mention every band here so i will simply say that my favourite musical year was 1994 because of amazing gigs by bands like Therapy? PWEI, Carter USM, Jesus Jones, EMF, The Wonderstuff, Silverfish, Gallon Drunk etc..

Recording an album with my band in May. our website is http://www.yermaw.org

Hey there. I’m not usually the best person for being the welcoming commitee here, and I try to leave it up to other - nicer - people to do, so everybody actually ends up feeling welcome, but since it’s clear no one here likes you enough to officially welcome you I’d better do my best…

…I fucked it up, didn’t I?… ;)

Anyway, welcome to the WoM, and much kudos for the use of the universal greeting :)

Hi Gill and welcome to the madness that is WoM.

How long have you been into T? and what’s your favourite album? What do you think about Martin leaving?

1994 was indeed a good year for music.. NIN’s “Downward Spiral”, Oasis’ “Definitely Maybe”, Green Day’s “Dookie”.. a lot of good stuff.

Glad to see there are more people signing up to WoM thanks to the current tour :) Do you know an Edinburgh-based band called slowloris? They’ve played Glasgow a few times. They played one of the last gigs at the 13th Note CafĂ© (or just the 13th Note, I get confused). And what other local bands do you know?

and of course not forgetting “the holy bible” - msp, “his n hers” - pulp, “dog man star” - suede… 1994 was a great year.

Yeah, 1994 was also the year when Real Things by 2 Unlimited was released! Oh wait, we’re discussing good albums here…

Welcome to the WoM, btw!

I have been into Therapy? since i bought the Teethgrinder 12” in 23rd Precint (It used to have a great alternative section where you could find just about anything you wanted before it decided to only sell dance music).

I don’t really have a favourite album but i have lots of fond memories from the period of my life when Nurse and Troublegum were out.

I was very surprised by Martin leaving but at the end of the day each of the band has the right to do whatever they want. Its not as if its the first time the band have had a member leave after all. I’m now even more interested to see what the rest of the band decide to do now since Martin had been around for so long. It would be difficult to introduce a new guitarist into the band while Andy, Michael and Neil are still in the process of developing their dynamic as a 3 piece. They certainly seemed to be loving it when i saw them at the weekend.

I don’t know the band you mentioned JSar666 but i know a lot of Glasgow bands through gigs and http://www.alternativenation.net

My band are in the process of relaunching our website, it should be ready before the end of May, so when it is ready i will let you all know so you can check it out. There will be 30 tracks on it including some very very drunken live ones from our 2nd and 3rd ever shows way back in January 2001.

Cheers for the welcome Misanthropologist. I’m glad to see I’m not the only person that still remembers the universal greeting. :p

D, it was a fairly good welcome.

I wonder where hoochalobster is - she usually handles this type of thing. Probably too busy lying in bed, looking at photos of Justin Timberlake with the lights turned low :)

Hello Gill, very nice to meet you :) I see you’ve answered Joe’s compulsary T? questions, what did you think JT’s Justified? ;)

I take it you’ll be going to see Edison when it comes out at the cinema then? I got this in an e-mail today

TIMBERLAKE TO PLAY ROTTEN?
What’s odder? Rumours that John Lydon has asked Justin Timberlake to play
him in a film based on his autobiography, or reports that the former
Nsyncer - currently making his film debut in ‘Edison’ - has accepted? Scary.

Urgh, that is scary.

Think will have to wait for Edison to come out on video, or go to the cinema alone :(

An ok piece of pop. I might have a better opinion of it if tracks weren’t being played absolutely everywhere though. And it could do with sounding a bit more like Fantomas. :D

I saw Lydon interviewed a while ago and he mentioned the Timberlake rumour. Could be interesting or could be another Mariah Carey’s Glitter.

Hi there, always drunk, it’s old ‘balcony’ here. I’m proud of Misanthropologist’s welcome word. Couldn’t have done it better (I know he agrees 100% right now) but, he has the language benefit. Just enjoy the craziness of this institute. Before you know it, you think you belong to an underground semi-political free mason lodge…;) At least, I think so.
