What Happened to Fyfe?

#

Started by Stevo (Guest)

Anyone know what Fyfe Ewing’s up to. I heard he’s got some sort of DJ Gig going. True? Bullshit? The best drummer ever to come out of the North? No doubt.

Fyfe’s in a band called Divers (they’re from Brighton)
but, they haven’t released anything in over a year.
As for the DJing - that is/was true! I remember watching
a short UK film, mad techno was played over the end
credits and imagine my surprise when I saw that Fyfe
Ewing wrote and performed it! Can’t remember the name
of the film though.

Can anybody tell me what happened with Fyfe Ewing after he left T? ? Did he join a new band, or has he withdrawn form the scene?

After he left he got involved in some films, short regional tv pieces and stuff and got into the rave scene. He even scored the music for a small independant short in N.Ireland called,(i think it’s called this anyway) ‘dancing ceceillia’ about a snake that dances to weird rave and goes missing and a chase around Belfast ensues from what i remember. ‘98 saw the Divers appear, fyfes new band, an e.p called little less nothing surfaced which fyfe also produced. They have been quiet since it’s release and r supposed to be working on new material from what i know but don’t quote me on that.

last i heard he was in a band called the divers in birminghamn i think, but i heard they split up, so does anyone know what fyfe is up to these days, it would be a shame to see his immense drumming talents go to waste

I have no idea actually. I haven’t heard anything about him since the Divers split up a while ago. Not a very valuable reply, but hey, now you know someone has the same feeling!

I do have a strong feeling he will turn up sometime soon, in a new project/band. I can’t imagine he’s fed up with playing the drums the way he does.

I ask ‘cos I know they played a bunch of gigs with Fyfe around 98/99 in the London area. By the way, here’s what they released;
1. 7” Split single w/ ‘My White Bread Mom’
Divers tracks: 1. Cleaner 2. Let You Know
2. Chevron (4 track CD single, 3 tracks on 7”)
1. Chevron 2. Inferno No 1 3. Dulse 4. Toxic Coup
3. Little Less Nothing (3 track CD single, 2 tracks on 7”)
1. Little Less Nothing 2. Eyes on the Prize 3. Callow

If anyone knows absolutely anything else of interest about them, please let me know!!

I had the opportunity to ask Andy about Fyfe in Zottegem; and he said that he was only helping some friends of him; just drumming for fun, he’s not in a band to release records or anything like that anymore… (Andy added that Fyfe’s too shy, doesn’t like the touring, and just loves to be his own as well; but i guess we all knew that already). They still have contact, but not too much anymore… ‘We both just went our own ways…’

oh well, thats a bit of a shame, fyfe is an immense drummer, i thought that after he left Therapy? he would do some sort of drum and bass thing with mad live goldie style drums or something, he does like his aphex twin and all that, that could’ve been pretty cool

Satansteddybear, nobody really knows what Fyfe is doing or where he is.

Divers split up in 1998 after releasing 3 singles (the last of which Fyfe played on and produced), and before that he did soundtrack work on at least one independant UK short film that I saw on TV one night - imagine my shock when I saw “Soundtrack composed by Fyfe Ewing” in the end titles! It was all techno/jungle-esque stuff - what he was apparently big into at the time. I’ve long since forgotten the name of the film unfortunately.

But since 1998, nothing. Andy or Michael haven’t heard from him since he left, by all accounts. It would be amazing just to hear an update about what he’s up to - he’s probably my favourite musician of all time.
