I *think* I read somewhere that they’re activated by a foot pedal. This could, however, be a complete fabrication by my little mind…

Fabrications of your little mind are activated by footpedal?

Back in the old days, Fyfe used trigger all the samples with his sticks. By the time he’d left, Therapy? had very few samples left in their live set, but Graham used to trigger these as well.

Nowadays, I don’t know who does the samples. They’re possibly done by Pete on the desk.

In the mandella hall gig (may day), the sample for the Meat Abstract intro could be heard before T? went on, during the setup. Maybe a pedal/button pressed by accident, but I think it must have neen from the deck, because anything else wouldn’t have been set up by then

When I heard a soundcheck for Straightlife, the repetitive “ah-ha” in the background was sampled. This was kicked off a chorus too early by someone off the stage, but I don’t know if it was the main sound guy at that stage (Chris Leckie).

Don´t know how T? do it, but either option can be done (foot pedal or desk). It´s normally done by the desk though.
