Another very bizarre place is any rock club, and what would be even wierder is if the song isnt screamager. Theres a place around soho called st moritz, not quite a club, not quite a bar, and if you ask for therapy you get screamager.

The most random song ive heard at a club though has to be magic dance by david bowie, that song from the film labryinth. me and a girlfriend of mine(not actual girlfriend, you get me) love that film, and we were at the afterschool club, and it just came on out of nowhere after some pants indy song. twas mental

Last friday, Bierkeller, Bristol. They played Knives. There was a bunch of people on the dancefloor, but there was a group of about 6 people in the middle of the crowd going absolutely crazy. I saw three T? shirts there that evening (including my own ;-).

The DJ, Haggis, is a big T? fan and so is quite happy to play their songs… but seemingly only from Troublegum, even though i’m sure he has High Anxiety. Never mind, he does play Knives and Trigger Inside instead of JUST screamager and going nowhere ;-)

Its also the only rock club where i’ve heard “21st Century Digital Boy” by Bad Religion, which is one of my all time fave songs.

Title: Two things…

A good few years ago when i was babysitting round my sisters, I had on MTV (yes i was bored!) and it was showing some quick clips of MTV awards achives or something, and all of a sudden T? were to be seen playing ‘Die Laughing’ wearing all black and leather, with Fyfe, and sporting the T? logo from ‘Retrospective’ album, on their amps. This was like 8 secs long.

And when i was in college, i remember in the ‘common room’ at the back, a tacky jukebox, with like albums of: ‘Now 54’ and stuff like that. But it also had ‘Nowhere’ on it, so of course I had it blasting out, regardless of what type of folk we’re eating in there at that time. Best lunchtime I can ever recall having! ;)

It was when I was on a camp with the youthclub in Büllingen (in ‘94). Almost every year they made a camp song and played that 4 times (or more) each day (when to wake up, when to eat, when rest started and ended,…). That song is based on an existing song, with diffrent lyrics. That year they used ‘Nowhere’. Instead of ‘going nowhere’ it became ‘we gaan op kamp’. I think I’m a bit brainwashed because of it (can you imagine: 10 days and 4 times each day that song :D ). A consequence is that my brother can’t hear that song anymore… :( The next year they used ‘lithium’ from nirvana for the song.

Story no. 1

On holiday last month in Reunion, some 10,000 miles or so from home… Our tour guide asked what the logo on most of my T-shirts was, and before I had time to answer, our bus driver shouted out in his strong french accent ‘Terapee?!’ before doing a slightly edited version of Knives… Turned out that he was actually from mainland France and had spent most of the 90s living in London, and had seen T? a few times including the infamous Brixton riot gig.

He later dug out a compilation cd with Screamager on it, and played that on the way back from climbing a volcano. Given that there was a wide spread of ages from 24 (my g/f) to 69, I think that meant introducing the band to some people for the first time…

Story no. 2

Got a mini-ipod from my lovely g/f for my birthday and found out that rather than potter to Dixons and buy one, she’d actually ordered direct from Apple, which meant that she could have something laser-engraved on the back. Consequently I was somewhat surprised and delighted (I’m often somewhat surprised, but not always delighted) to open the box and find the ipod had ‘Church of Noise’ and the date engraved on the back.

She got treated very nicely for the rest of the day :)

Andy’s face was just shown for one second on an Austrian TV-show called “Die Sendung ohne Namen” (“Show with no name”).

There’s always a narrator doing quick voice-over and giving lots of facts and anecdotes while at the same time pictures of things that are somehow connected to the words pop up on screen. (It’s a really entertaining and original show, just hard to explain in English).
Anyway, in today’s episode the narrator used the word “therapy” in a sentence and when he said that word Andy popped up. I doubt that a lot of viewers got that joke, but I did and thought it was pretty cool.

The ‘94 World Cup. BBC (I think) were doing an item on Maradona (basically he’s a troubled genius etc.) and the backing music was ‘Totally Random Man’. Ended really well with a slow motion scene of Maradona running up to the camera and screaming into in as the chorus of ‘Understand me…’ blasted out. Kinda cool I thought.

There was another BBC / football one today. On Football Focus they played Moment Of Clarity and Screamager in the background during a feature on N. Irish football (followed by what I think was the Undertones).

Hm, my strangest T? sighting was in a hungarian pop video by Zanzibár, the band playing in a really fucked up room, with no furniture at all, just the band playing, tons of cables plus a Semi-Detatched poster on the wall, which was weird, cos it was like the only thing in the room except for the band.

Made me smile :D

Was having a pint in the Horse & Jockey pub in Inchicore ( thats in Dublin for the non Irish among you ) a while ago as my favo team where playing in the area that night.
Now the H&J is not the good atmosphered Irish tourist pub but more like the favourite place where local junkies and dealers like to shoot each other.

Anyway , almost choked in my Guinness when Andy J. himself comes walking in with one my football mates. Talking of place and time where you would not expect him.
