So start writing your obituaries. :)
I don’t think the Smiths will ever reform because of the outcome of the courtcase and Morrissey still holds a grudge against Joyce.Morrissey still includes Smiths songs in his setlist.

i would never want the smiths to reform but if johnny marr and morrissey got back together to make some new music, that would be good. but a nostalgic smiths tour would be a terribly bad idea. when bands do “re-union” type things the results are always terrible and they always rely on their back catalogue for cheers.
but if mansun, pulp or suede fancy getting back together, you have my full backing. :)

Moz solo Vauxhall & I (which just might be his best solo album,i love the last song on it Speedway),Your Arsenal and Viva Hate are good places to start.
For a Smiths virgin on a budget the Greatest Hits is a fine compilation to begin with, theres not one bad song on the album and they are all classics. If you want to go for a studio album The Queen Is Dead and Strangeways Here We Come are the most popular Smiths albums.opalmantra is right avoid the best of the Smiths 1 and 2 compilations they have very flawed tracklistings.

Picked up a great SMiths Comp DVD off E-Bay.
Had a really cool performance where they do a kickin’ version of Handsome Devil.
What was great was during miserable lie, the crowd was throwing Moz’s flowers back at him and pummeled him in the eye. He went off-stage for a few and the band played on. He then came back and picked up in perfect time.
Also the crowd bum rushing the stage at the end and mugging Moz for the mic was a bit surreal.
But not a surreal as the Spanish documentary..some odd clips mixed in with the performace bits.
Also a version of Cannableism Begins at Home from TOTP. Never realized what a great bass line that song had..Andy Rourke was very under-rated.
