But you know what - being a student ain’t about the piece of paper you get at the end! It’s about getting drunk and head banging! :D

A degree is just a ticket to get in… that’s all I think because you have to prove yourself anyway as soon as you start working… some companies really attach a lot of value to which degree you got which is actually a load of bullshit as most of those nerds with excellent results in school can not work with other people anyway…

Most, but not all ;) So cheer up Missy-Ann!

David Milliband, the UK Schools minister was on the telly today twittering about why it’s still important to do A levels… He compared the increasing number of people doing A levels with going to Cambridge for a degree (which I didn’t do) and said 99% of Cambridge graduates leave with a degree and no-one says that they’re worth any less.

David, I think you’ll find that ALL graduates leave with a degree. That’s 100%. It’s the drop-outs that don’t! You prat!

This really incensed me.

i don’t believe in all that stuff too…and i think firms shouldn’t look to much one s.o’s results, but see if he can work good or not.

i had been at 6 different schools, and so i know from experience that marks are nearly nothing. in one school i would have get a brilliant A-level for nothing and then in the next one i had fight really hard to get a kind of good result…and for local firms they know too whih school is harder or not…
and same goes for university i think…

and if you just have a look at all those students here in germany doing a brilliant A-level and not really knowing anything… (i think PISA proved it  )…then it’s pretty clear too that a good result is not really saying anything. i mean some of them even think that Mallorca is lieing directly next to America, or don’t know all states of their own country (just as example) and whatever…

from my own experience I can tell you that the only thing you need to get a great job is guts and a lot of luck. especially that last one is important. being on the right spot on the right time. that’s what happened to me. The first job I got right after leaving school (credit manager), I wasn’t qualified at all to do it. In an other company I applied for the assistent of the assistent of a credit manager, and they said I didn’t have the right experience (offcourse not, I just got out of school)

Than for the job I’m doing right now, you needed at least three years of experience (I had 8 months) and to be fluent in french (I was really not), but I got it anyway. Just because I proved myself as a credit manager, and offcourse for my pretty eyes ;)

To get a good job you need connections as well I’ve learnt. Keep in touch with old buddies and adquaintances.
Don’t burn any bridges professionally or privatly with people. Always try to shine and stand out.

And if all that fails. Bullshit them.

But it’s really true, when I graduated there were those supernerds with absolutely excellent results and some companies were fighting to have them on board, but they were fired after a while because they were just sitting in their own little corner and not talking to anyone… oh the fun I had when I heard those suckers were jobless :D

You know who I am robby. Remember T? in the botanique last year. We went to have a drink in the beercircus. So you should know I look like a normal person.

And if you meant this as a joke, I’m sorry for the reaction, but it pissed me off
