Green Day - American Idiot

#

Started by Auto_Surgery (Mad Axe Man)

Anyone heard the new Green Day tune, American Idiot.

Must admit sounds really good, and its single of the week on Radio 1. I gave Warning a miss at the time of its release but I’m sure it’ll join my collection when it becomes 3 for £20. I reckon I’ll get American Idiot though.

Title: american idiot

I think American idiot is a great song and hopefully the rest of the new album will be just as good. If it is it will be the best album they’ve done since dookie and that is still a classic.

it is very much “the standard green day song” though.

Is there somewhere a website where you can listen to some new stuff?

the video for american idiot is on the official green day website - http://www.greenday.com.

it’s an annoying all-flash-loads-for-days type effort, but if you have broadband and a bit of patience, you can watch all sorts of green goo flooding around them while listening to the song.

it cuts out all the time the first time you play it, because its streaming video, but the second time round you can enjoy it.

no really, go on. the song is good once you get there.

Billie Joe is my favourite lyricist.

Yeah, I heard that too… looking forward to it.

I heard the single recently for the first time, I do like it, though I am a bit worried about the lyrical content — if the whole album is gonna be an anti-Bush thing, it could wear a little thin very quickly. Not that I don’t agree with the sentiments, but you don’t want it rammed down your throat if politics aren’t your thing.

Haaa, they’re coming to Germany for just one show at the Zeche in Bochum on October 1 which means I could take a walk from work to see them. :D
And it gets even better as The Donnas will be supporting them.

I second that !!!! :D :D

Totally worth waiting 4 years for !!

Boulevard of broken dreams is a fantastic song ! It reminds me of oasis’ ” D’you know what i mean “…

I like Tre’s little ditty too ( rock and roll girlfriend )

This album does indeed pee all over warning and Blink 18who?

Probably my favourite Green Day album ever ! and I think any Green Day fan would love it ;)

Next on my list : NANE then the new Mansun Boxset !!

* Anyone noticed that Green Day have spent longer between albums each time ?

1994 : dookie
1995 : Insomniac - one year
1997 : nimrod - two years
2000 : warning - three years
2004 : American idiot - four years

If they keep up this trend it will be 2009 before the next one comes out !!!!

It’s the best Green Day album since Dookie, no doubt about that.
And they can still kick ass live. Saw them in Bochum yesterday, a brilliant gig. At moments there were seven musicians on stage, an orchestra to perform a punk rock opera. :)
