Honest, meeting the band stories!

I’ve only met Andy once with my friend Matt, we caught him on his way to the bar (typical hehehe) at the Portsmouth Pyramid Centre, I think is almost 2 years ago now (Thirst and Dog Toffee were support) and asked if he could sign our stolen (ahem) T? posters. He asked if we had a pen and we sadly replied no. Then said we’d meet him back at the spot we were at whilst we go look for a pen. In the end we couldn’t find one, except there was one attached to the merchandise table (very well attached might I add!) and a piece of paper stating “Do Not Take This Pen!”. Anyway, after all those efforts we had properly just missed Andy or had lost him but whatever the reason we never caught up with again :(

Hopefully I’ll get a better chance next time. Thats if I get another next time…?

All that’s left to say now is - c’mon lads, hurry up and tour! hehehehe :D

Please could people visit mine and Matt’s band site:
http://www.high-anxiety.tk
(guess where we got the name from?)

Last year in Cologne Andy was walking around in front of the stage before the gig. I stopped him and shook his hand, telling him that I loved the new album (HA) and was looking forward to the gig. He said “thanks, man” shaking my hand. THE END

Before that we were sitting at the Mexican next to the concert place, where Martin and Neil were also eating. But we decided not to be too rude and leave them alone.

Met them twice now in Nice n Sleazies in Glasgow accross from the Garage. Hung out with them and Rico and drank a few beers. Also met Michael in the Cathouse once.

Nothing too exciting I’m afraid. Apart from the time we saved the world from giant spiders using the power of an ancient crystal we found in the pyramids. They were still a 4-piece then, and I might have dreamt it.

met Andy at Leeds Cockpit on the Scopophobia tour, me and my mate were sat in the bar before hand and andy walked through and neither of us had the guts to say hello (we are both pussies), we decided if he walked through again we would grab him. He did so we grabbed him and had our photo taken with him, which incidently my mate still hasnt copied and sent to me, and I shook his hand and told him that HA was great. Thats about it, nothing exciting. Oh he also dropped his guitar pick whilst onstage and as I was front stage middle I swiped it and still have it now, cheers Andy.

I met Andy last November just before their Wolverhampton show. My mom of all people (massive T? fan even at 50!) accosted Mr Cairns and I thought I’d better rescue the poor man. Butted in as my mom was saying “oh, and this is my son who’s been a T? fan since he was 14…” Andy simply looked at me, said the word “Serious?” and gave me a proper big man-hug. Was a nice moment - and the water in my eyes was just from the smoke - honest!!

Title: Easy..

The last time they were in the USA they played a bar in Boston called Bills Bar. I “think” capacity is 200..and there was about 40-60 people there MAX. The guys all stood watching the openin band..played there set and then were in the road. So approachable and so few people around I got pictures w/Andy, Mike, Graham and Martin. They each took signed at least 2 cds each of what I had. The few times they have been to the USA they have been so easy to get to because nobody knows how freaking ACE they are. Super friendly, very cordial..and willing to sign and say hi.

Title: Meeting the band.

The first time I met Andy was just outside of The Astoria on the Suicide Pact tour, he was a really nice guy, got a pic, shook hands. Then about 18 mos later I ran into him at the gig in Philadelphia, and he actually remembered meeting me. I told him I met him before the Astiria gig, and he said”Yeah, right outside the venue, your friend took a picture”, I couldn’t belive that! I met Michael that night too, he even offered me a free t-shirt, and I fucking turned it down! Not really sure why, he said it was the last one, and I just sait” No man, thats alright, but thanks”. What a bunch of cool guys.

Seen the band plenty of times … with all the line ups .. but never actually met em until…

..the one and only time that I have met the boys was at the White horse Bar in Dublin.

They played a fan club only gig and we set off from Belfast to see em.

Cracker show :) Only marred by the fact that the floor started collapsing below us due to the pogoing that was going on during the T? set … :)

the set had to be called short … but Andy stood at the bottom of the stairs and signed anything you wanted :)

Got my teethgrinder long sleeved tshirt signd by the man .. which has been my luckt tshirt ever since… wore it during driving test and birth of my baby daughter and they all went well #:)

Canny wait for the new T? album and hope they come back to do another gig in Belfast …

And hopefully in the Ulster Hall … the concert they played on the 30th Dec w/ Joyrider and Ash was THE best concert I have ever been to in my life!! Was pure and total Northern Ireland Rocking on the go!!!

met andy on may 2nd of this year. i was sitting/kneeling on the stage witht hem for the whole of the gig (didnt have much choice, if i didnt my knees would have been broken :) )
i thought it was a huge deal when andy planted a big kiss on my forehead at the end, and then gettin on the stage and thanking michael and neil.
but afterwards me and my sister and her boyfriend waited at the bar, and who came back, only andy :)
i got hima pint, and some guy got him a whiskey, but he didnt want the whiskey straight (he was stayin dry cos of the touring i think) and so my sister bought him a coke for the whiskey :)
and so we stood there and talked for ages about music, our favourite bands, our views on things, my friends brohter appeared (hes in a very big band in ireland at the mo, waiting room, theyre deadly)and everyone was talking away like mad, it was great fun, and so weird and urreal, singing big eyed beans from venus with him, dreams coming true.
he signed my ticket, and i already had his towel, i said “is this your towel andy?’ cos my sis said it probably wasnt even his, so he wrote ANDY and a funny smiley face on it :) his definitley now :D
i saw him off to the tour bus, and then i jsut went mad, everything hit me at once,i wanted to laugh and dance and cry and just go mental :)
i think it bemused him to be honest, cos i dont think they think of it as that big a deal, which is really great. It was nice to be able to tell him he’s saved my life a few times, and just generally thank him for everything.
sorry this is so long, it was the greatest night of my life, and i dont think ill ever be happier than iw as that night :D.
oh he also gave me a cigarette :D its on my wall :P (yeah i know…sad)

He was smoking mine! Think I did things the wrong way round that night! :D

I’ve met T? in two forms- once with Graham and once with Neil. The first time was pretty brief but I got a beer of T? at 16 so that was cool! Andy also walked past myself and some friends on the stairs and said hi once before a gig in Manchester.

The final time was the by far the best! It was after the first night if the HA tour in Manc. A few highlights spring to mind- big chats with Andy, Neil and Martin about all kinds of stuff (including talking drums with Neil) and a hug from Andy when I was leaving and best wishes off the guys for my musical pursuits.

The best thing though was Andy saying “Well heres to your mate!” and us having a drink after I told him about a good friend of mine who first got me into T? but died in 1995 and never even got to see them live. I think that says it all really. What a fucking cool band! :D:D:D

Ha, I’ve been a fan since I was 10! If Andy knew that he wouldn’t have looked at you like that. He would have saved it all for me :)

Title: meeting the band…

:)

I meet Andy, Michael and Martin Mc. last year before the gig in Oslo, Norway.

I was sitting backdoors and Andy said “How are your mr.?”
great :)

Then I got Andys and Michaels autographs on my “So called press-version of High Anxiety”! :)

A really nice thing was…
my pencil wasn´t working, so Andy took time to get another one for me :)! :D

Michael too is always really nice…He was asking how long I
had to drive to come here…

And gave me a strange look when I said about 13 Hours…It´s long to Norway from Sweden indeed!

Also remembering Martin Mc. with his “Hairy Monkey-Jacket”…and Sam-merchandizer telling the crew to “Close The Door” so I would not slip in or hear the Soundcheck…I
guess I have to forgive her for that…anyway heard them soundcheck “Moment Of Clarity” and “Punishment Kiss”…:)!

Nice stuff and Photos here:

They´re all cool! ! !

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-)

I was at a Yo-Yos gig in Highbury and I was bouncing around, and it was only at the end of the gig when that the guy bouncing around in front of me was Andy. Had a brief chat, he was very polite, but knackered (!). I think he was there with Ricky Warwick, cos he was a couple of feet away.

The closest i came to meeting anyone was martin at the barfly. He was there with crutches and a big plaster on his foot and was just sitting around in the bar. Im kind of glad i didnt introduce myself seeing as he didnt play with the band that night. Dont know when the business of him being ousted started but it could have been a bit awkward, you know.

Dude, you just summed it up completely!!
LAst summer the day after a DJ slot in Aunty Annies bar belfast, Michael called into the shop i work at (Centra Wellington Place please call in!). It was lunchtime and the cue was huge so i didt have time to ask for an autograph, which i really regreted. So i just asked how the ngiht before was, and he said very good, that’s why i’m buying this water..lol
So after that, a few months ago, the guy calls in again, and i serve him!! This time its a lot quieter so i ask for an autograph, which he wrote on a till reciept.
Cracker!!
