I am listening to it since friday (working in a CD-store only has advantages) so that tells enough. It’s better than Bloodflowers, Wild Mood Swings and Wish combined.
And I regard Bloodflowers as a very good album mind you.

This sounds very promising (even though I don’t like Bloodflowers that much, my favourite albums are still Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me and Disintegration)

having listened to it since monday, i think it is rather good to be honest. “alt.end” is a direct rip off of “in your house” but louder, and “us or them” has the same guitar riff as “watching me fall”. but anyway, i think it’s a good album. not a classic cure album, but a good one. certainly one worth having. “the promise” is a ten minute long masterpiece.

yes, you did hear correctly. it was produced by ross robinson. but it’s not shit. i know it’s a shocker, but ross robinson has finally produced a decent album. (although i did quite like the “at the drive in” album he produced too).

i’ve been a fan of ross rob (boo hiss i know) and that makes me more interested to hear it, especially if you’re saying its like ATD-I. ‘relationship…’ is very well produced.
was never a big cure fan. not that i dont like them, more like i havent heard much of them, apart from the singles. i may have to pick this up though.
another album gets added to the never ending list (sigh)

I don’t think he was saying that, mate. At least, I hope not. I know Smith’s got big hair, but it ain’t by any stretch of the imagination an afro.

yeah i get that :)
what i took from NTKOG’s post was that he liked the album and that he liked the produciton on the ATD-I album, which was a lot cleaner than most of R.R’s other stuff.
so hopefully/maybe/possibly the production on the cure album is something similar.

Ross Robinson hasn’t just done Slipknot though - he did Glassjaw, Sepultura’s Roots, Korn, Machine Head… some great albums - ATDI’s Relationship Of Command was ace!

Yeah - I’ve had loads of Cure compilations for ages and last week i (naughtily) downloaded their entire discography… so I am just working through them - The standout ones so far are Disintegration, Bloodflowers, Pornography and maybe Wish…

I will end up buying the ones I like - and probably all of them in time!

add “17 seconds” to that list and you’ve got the 5 best.

do you know that robert smith sold songs for car commercial… i dont like that.. the man who sings about the big pains of love and the whole pain of the world sells songs for car commercial..

not that the music is bad but i didnt like that..

everytime i hear their songs now.. i think about fucking car commercials…

Whats wrong with making a living? I’m sure he wasn’t thinking of car comercials when he wrote it so what does it really matter?

yes in a way your right, cause the’ve done the music on their own.. they made the song and they can do with that what they want… whats wrong with earning money with that…

but from another sight.. its like they sold theirselfs to the industry…
if a young band sells songs for commercial, then does it mean that they want the get bigger to earn more money, to be famous.. and enjoy the life of rich mans

a few bands would never and never do that.. some tell that in interviews that this is bad etc

for that.. kurt cobain never wanted that. but they became bigger and bigger he never wanted to get big with his band… he hated it to became famous (which is a bit strange)

i hope the reason why i dont like it is clear.. its a bit hard to explain

I don’t think there are many bands that dont want to become sucessfull. Why bother in the first place if you don’t wish to do well?

I think people get confused about ‘selling out’ - I don’t think being successful should make you a so-called sell out or cheapen the music you have made - if a band sacrifices their musical integrity to become sucessful however - then i can understand why people would have a problem.

Lets face it - Therapy? were successful around the time of Troublegum - and I recently read somewhere that the money they made from that record allowed them to go on and write albums like SP-YF and the new one - which might not be as comerically viable - without the pressure to force-write Troublegum 2 just to put food on the table and the kids through college or whatever.

I can see your point about selling yourself to the industry and all that - but you have to look at it in the sense that you probably go to work to get paid, just like I do, and I don’t see why musicians cannot do the same.
