Lol, I was just at the GW site before coming here :)

Yup, I’m in the hobby mostly for the painting. Fantasy is in it’s 6th edition and 40K is currently in it’s 3rd. As the models go, the quality has gone up dramatically since just two years ago when I first started.

Wow, I wasn’t expecting this post!

What army do you play?

I just started a year ago with Fantasy … never did 40k … don´t know if i ever will

I like the painting, although its a bit getting on my nervs, when i have to do a lot in a short time, to have the best models for a fight!
Buts its really relaxing.

I like such fantasy stuff … Always played AD&D and stuff … as a female sexy magician (why shall i play male gender … i know that from real life!) … yeah *g* i kicked some orcs asses and ogres :)
Great fun. I had a little tiger i was riding on. Loved it. It was killed by some monster. Don´t know anymore.

WHF its a lot of fun to me. You never know what will happen. Its stratetic, but also depends on what you dice.

For Fantasy I have a Lizardmen army, Dwarf army, and Daemon army. In 40K I’m rebuilding my Eldar and have a Necron army. The whole reason I’m still in the hobby is because the painting is relaxing :)

Oh, the RPG’s! I’ve played a few… D&D, Vampire, Werewolf, Mage, Changling, Revelations, Top Secret, Star Wars, Cthulu, Wraith, Arse Magica (sp?), and even was a playtester for a game called Warmachine (an alternate reality WW2 game). Much fun :) Not much else to do here in Wisconsin. Besides, before they moved it, I was 45 minutes from Gen-Con.

@ Krisken: Do you just paint your minis, or do you play also? :)

I just got my chaos army for 1000 points ready painted … already lost battles :(
But i will go on with it and win :)

Both :)

I tend to win a lot and spend enormous ammounts of time on each figure, so the paint job is pretty good. Around here that is kind of unusual, as the best painted armies usually do the worst!

Chaos eh? What units do you use? Chaos can be difficult to play (especially demons), and their small units can be a bit hard to get used to. Against Skaven and Empire armies I’ve always had trouble with the Chaos army I had, since the great armour saves didn’t help much against the huge numbers and warmachines (cannons, ratling gun, etc).

Yeah i know that with the rattling gun! I HATE IT!

Well i just started a year ago. So i haven´t painted all i have.
But i played against Skaven.
A friend of mine started with me. And he blows away a whole regiment with his fucking ratling gun. Did i mention it, that i hate it?

Well i just have painted my barbs rider, one regi of barbs two regis of warriors, my chariot, and two broods or spawns or whatever it is called in english. So its a bit a shit list for playing against skaven, cause its just really slow and just infantry … but i still have to paint my dogs *g* and knights! YEAH that will make them get going! :) I also have deamonettes … blood dogs *g*, and this flying tzzentch creaturs. And some stuff, which i probably wont use against skaven, cause just to slow.
Yeah i also have some sorceres …

But i will keep on going to 5000 points. And then the lovely Archaon (its a real sweetie, don´t you think?) will join in and the The Khorne Deamon.
That will mean a lot of blood is going to be on the floor of war *gggggggg*

That will be fun to watch. It wouldn´t matter. if i would loose. Just to see how much heads the khorne deamon and the sweetie can cut! Has to be lovely to watch *g*

But then the fucking ratling gun(s) will make me loose the battle. I know it. Did i say, that i hate the ratling gun?
:)

Title: You youngsters…

First got into GW stuff when WFB was in it’s second edition, and W40k wasn’t even released! Used to play Blood Bowl and Talisamn a lot, as well as Dungeonquest, which was GW’s translation of a Swedish(?) boardgame called Drak Borgen. Never really collected armies much (had a small Empire army and an Epic Imperial Guard one), tended to just buy the models I liked. Was OK at painting though, and got through to the Golden Demon finals for a couple of years - stopped pretty much when I started work due to a lack of time :( Spent a lot of time painting in my teens, although in hindsight, this could have been better spent sub-duvet.

GW recently announced a 10% increase in profit as a result of the Lord of the Rings films!

Their models are pricey, although there’s more and more plastic ones these days, which helps. £100+ for some of the big models seems a lot, but some of them are v nice. Might paint again one day but am probably a bit too old, and not spotty enough now. :(

Ach, never too old to do something you enjoy. Who says that we have to hang up our hobbies and attend meetings when we get older? To the pit with those bloodthirsty sons of whores!

Yup, it is a bit expensive, but any hobby is. I havn’t seen many in that price range Citizen, as most stop around $50 (that’s around 30 there, right?) except for the really expensive Forge World stuff (Resin Kits).

Tatty, I hate that Ratling Gun as well… still trying to find a way to turn it into a disadvantage to my opponent. Someday… someday. :)

Well sometimes its 50:50 and it blows itself up. Thats funny about the skaven! You never know if they are too stupid to handle their war machines *g*
But also this fucking warp canon! Hate it too … Last time my it blew away my chariot. :(
But my character had really slaughtered a alot before he went down.

Well did you hear about the chaos dwarfs and the hell canon in 2005 … Chaos will get a warmachine … 48” and S10 damage! Yeah this rocks!
Perhaps this one will make the ratling gun look old!

Well i think tzzentch flies *g* and gargoyles are best for ratling gun, for hunting it down. if the dogs aren´t there fast enough!

It was the forgeworld stuff I was thinking of, some of which is extremely cool though I guess not many people have 40k armies with several Baneblades in them.

When I first started painting, Skaven had only just been invented (just the flamethrower at the time) and the only Chaos gods were Khorne (good to see the old boy’s still going) and Malal…

LOL! Yup, those Baneblades and Titans are hard to come by, not to mention awful to put together. I got my first resin pieces for my Wave Serpeant, and it’s definately much more difficult to deal with than Plastic or Metal Mini’s.

Ah, you’re talking about the Tzeentch Screamers, right Tatty? Those things are great :) That cannon does look pretty groovy though. (there’s a preview of it on the GW website). The warriors look much better than the old ones as well.

I hope i´ll or can paint them on the weekend!
Couldn´t find the pic of the hellcannon :(

And yes … the warriors look like the old champions!

Played Fantasy when I was younger alot. Then last year got involved a bit again, but was taking up too much time so stopped again.

I had a dwarven army, not very big,

Played Necromunda alot more though. Excellent game that has gone by the way-side would really like to get back into that but not having much luck finding any gamers.

Used the Orlock gang, though didn’t use much of the models from the box, except for a few basic convertions.

Still paint the mini’s though. Need to replace my paint collection, feckers dried up on me in the dam summer heat. Not looking forward to going through it and realising the cost of the re-stock!!!
