Eh, hi there!

Hello,

I’ve been reading the messages on this board for almost a year now, and I’ve finally plucked up the courage to introduce myself (and who knows, maby post more one day).

I’m a 27-year-old girl from the Netherlands.
I’ve first started to notice Therapy? when I saw scramager on MTV.
I really got into the band when my sisters -now very ex- boyfriend lended me his Troublegum cd. I said I liked it, so he gave me Nurse, Pleasure Death, Babyteeth, Opal Mantra etc.
But after Infernal Love, I kinda didn’t pay any intention to them anymore (maybe because my sister and her BF split up :P)

I heard that High Anxiety was a good cd, so I rented it at the local library. I really loved it, and when I read here that they were coming to my area, I went to see them with my boyfriend. He isn’t really a fan, but they were really good live, better then I expected, so we enjoyed it very much.

So for years I’ve had al lot of Therapy? on tape but only since last year, I’ve been buying the cds.

I think Baby Teeth and Pleasure Death (I now have them on one cd, caucasian psychosis) are still my favourite, so I’m hoping the new album will kick major ass :D

I’m not a typical Therapy? fan I gather from this board, because I’m not really into wild punk ‘n rock bands.

So that’s it, now I can’t keep lurking :P

Love, Meta

Eh, hi back there and welcome.
You know that entering WoM is like selling your soul to the devil?

What other music are you into? We’re very, very open minded here.

Hia Meta, welcome to WoM!

Good to see another Dutch person on here, we were starting to be outnumbered by those pesky Belgians ;-)

Just in case you haven’t heard it yet, can I please recommend Suicide Pact-You First as your next T? purchase? Then again, if you’re ‘not really into wild punk ‘n rock bands’ it might not be the best choice for you. It’s never too late to learn, though…

Have fun!

*tries to imagine a big belgian welcome* Does it involve a massive sweaty guy called Gunter embracing you and thrusting a tankard of beer into your hand? :p

For the flipside a big english welcome would depend on where you go. In london they ignore you, and mildly hope you die. Other places would include a “Who are you lookin’ a’ mate?” followed by a headbutt. Maybe a brief nod, the list goes on!

Anyhoo hi!

Welcome Meta.

A wee Irish welcome to yee Lassie (think that sounds Scottish, oh well

You’ve a similar story to my own. Got a lend of Troublegum, Short Sharp Shock and Hats of the Insane from a friend then saw them at Sun Stroke ‘94 and have been hooked ever since.

Lurk now longer. Look forward to reading more of your posts.

A half-German, half Scottish welcome to you.

First I am friendly, drunk and illiterate, then arrogant, embittered and filled with a deep hate for you and everyone you have ever known.

Welcome to WOM.

You really sound like a nice bunch!

I already have SP-YF, but I have to admit I haven’t listend to it that much. But I like it, it’s a return from the polished rock to the more rough rock sound I like from them.

mmm, other things I listen too:
At the moment a lot of Björk (Medúlla has only been out for a week), BIG fan of her and the Sugercubes..
Things like Jesus Jones, EMF, PWEI, Einstürzende Neubauten (older stuff), Duran Duran, Prince, Gene, Blur, Salad, PJ harvey, Orbital, Plaid, Underworld (but their last one sounds dull), This Mortal Coil (with ex-therapy? Martin!), Värttinä, De Kift (again not sure about last one) and I like a bit of industrial things like NIN , les tétines noires . Just a cross section here.

Oh, and I used to be a hip-hop fan when I was 13 :) Fight the power!

So although not classic rock stuff, I don’t mind a bit of noise :)

Reading your musical preferences I must say you are a typical T? fan.

And don’t confuse us with those Belgian metalheads loitering around here. :)

Yeah, I really like the layered sound of Värttinä and I love the sound of Finnish!
I also listen to Hedningarna, who also sing in finnish. I think it’s cool that I can’t understand anything they say, but you can still feel the mood of the song through the vocals.
With other languages, I alway understand parts of it, because I can understand german english and french..

I’m looking forward to visit Finland sometime (when I more money) because I love trees, lakes, mountains and the cold :)

I sometimes can’t understand either what they (Värttinä) are singing. They used old finnish words also dialect makes understanding difficult. I have only two of their albums and hardly never (nowadays) listen to them. BTW I used to live in the same building that their current bassplayer lives. :p

I’m suprised that someone actually likes the sound of finnish, most people think we are saying nothing but rude things because of the “hard-R’s”. Our language isn’t easy and only 5 million people speaks it…

I can recommend other great bands that sings in finnish but they are nothing like Värttinä. Heavy guitars I’m afraid.

Welcome to Finland! I’m afraid that our mountains aren’t high (The highest in Lapland is just nearly over 1000m!)

Our mountains aren’t lofty, treetops are quite high and yes we are faraway from Cairo. That’s why it is so cold in the wintertime. :p Today morning was -2 celcius! So I guess that the summer is over… :(

Well, I live in a country where the tallest mountian (or hill) is only 321 m above sea level, a 1000 m sounds pretty high.

Finnish doesn’t sound rude to me, because dutch propably sounds just as rude to foreigners. We have the hard ‘r’s (well, most of us do) but we also have hard ‘g’s (sounding like clearing your throat) and hard k’s.

:)
Well, most dutch people are probably rude without knowing it, because we love our ‘brutal honesty’.

What kind of music do you people listen to?

This reminds me of a stand-up comedian from the US I saw on the telly the other day. He said he was turned on by watching TV commercials for phonesex lines in his hotel in Holland the night before, until the girl in the commercial used the number 8 while saying the phone number, which sounds a bit like throwing up your breakfast (at least that’s the way he described it). That wasn’t really a turn on for him ;-)
