I already did.
I liked a few songs off the first album. The second wasn’t that good i think. Is the third better?

Mclusky are fine. In reviews they always draw Pixies references which I don’t see that clearly. I recognise influences like The Jesus Lizard or Chokebore.
And they’re mad on stage, so a tour with T? would be great.

I love Mclusky, think they are influenced from Therapy? also. On the “do dallas” album I recognise influences from “Suicide Pact-You First”.

i’d say they have common influences (big black to name just one band), rather than that mclusky are influenced by therapy?.

Interesting to hear that the “moment of clarity” writing on the Mclusky’s website is an hommage to Therapy?

Anyway, I thought “Mclusky Do Dallas” was awesome, but “The Difference…” is a bit of a letdown. (read my review here: http://rateyourmusic.com/view_album_details/album_id_is_130085)

“She Will Only Bring You Happiness” is/was the summer hit of the year, though.

i dont think that its a letdown..

its like therapy’s? troublegum and following infernal love album…

you wanted a second troublegum? sorry mate but good bands want to reinvent theirselfs and this is what a good bands are all about..

i love their and therapy albums…
and the ten year plan album by therapy is a compilation of the various sounds the created (in my opinion) and not really a “best” of…

Don’t get me wrong. I appreciate the attempt to try somethibg different, I just don’t think it worked particularly well most of the time.

I love “Infernal Love”, but I don’t quite see a connection between that album and “The Difference…”.

I bought ‘The Difference…’ a couple months ago, I wasn’t too sure about it, I saw them at Leeds and now I love it. A couple of duff songs on there but I think it’s pretty cool.
I will get ‘Mclusky Do Dallas’ soon when I get some more money. ‘To Hell With Good Intentions’ and ‘Lightsabre Cocksucking Blues’ are wicked songs.

They were feckin ace live and that mad ginger bassist did a somersault across the stage at the end, and landed on his arse, which was pretty funny.

Awesome band. Talked to them after a show, 2 or 3 years ago and they were very nice gice (er,… guys). The bass player even was quite happy when I compared them to early T?-stuff.

Saw them on a German TV programm the other day and they performed “She Will Only Bring You Happiness”. Unfortunately, they really sucked. I guess, Falco was hoarse that day or something. I sincerely hope there better live on “normal” days.

I watched them at the Sarah Kuttner show, too. You don’t get to hear songs with a chorus line like ‘Our old singer is a sex criminal’ on the telly too often. :)

really? not too sure about this.. but i think songs like day of the deadringers and collagen rock are good example for pixies references…

HA yes thats absolutely right.. but as i said it before.. those 2 songs.. and yes they also said that they like pixies stuff.. and so every journalist creates his own impression of their music…

in a way its all shitty… some say nirvana=pixies; pixies=nirvana; pixies=mclusky=nirvana=dave grohl=foo fighters… bla bla.. qotsa, so is nirvana=mclusky?

of course they dont say dave grohl=mclusky but arrgh forget it..

or as elton said placebo=mclusky ;)

I think the latest album sounds a bit more like Shellac.
Well a reason for this might be, that mighty Steve Albini produced the record again…

I think I’m going to see them in Düsseldorf next Monday. A friend of mine is going to the Avril Lavigne show( ) at the Philipshalle so we could share his car.
We did the same on the Shameless tour. He went to Bremen to see Heather Nova and we accompanied him to see T?: :)

I’m glad you only slagged off Avril and not Heather as well. :)
