Some tracks - I think it is most obvious in “Here be Monsters”.

I don’t like St. Anger at all. BUT…

Therapy? did it right. The songs sound inspired, they have a great production, they have that “poppiness” in them I always liked about the band - often it sounds as if they are making fun of pop structures.

Anyway, enjoying NANE immensely on my third listen.

Not lyrically, andys always had his own style of writing.

Plus therapy spend way too much time trying to be original to listen to an album like St anger and try and do that style. they had already developed some of this style and sound on high anxiety, which came out before st anger.

I also agree about Neil playing his drums way better than Lars Ulrich. God, Ulrich sucks so much most of the time. I am one of the dreaded “Load” listeners anyway. I can’t listen to their old stuff because the lyrics are so embarassing, even though its musically good stuff. The “Loads” have that jammy attitude I like, and Ulrich does his coolest drumming in “Reload”.

Anyway, I think that the style of St. Anger has influnced parts of “Rise Up” and “Here Be Monsters”. Also some other stuff I can’t tell you right now, since I don’t know the album by heart yet :)

I agree therapy have got to get their influences, but if theres one band there blatently not influenced by at this very moment its metallica. Are you telling me you’ve never heard a riff like on here be monsters before by any other band apart from metallica.
And lyrically Andys just his own man.

Yeah, I agree there is a ‘jamming’ feel to Load - with a bit of the groove that Metallica usually lack.
As far as NANE goes, I have only heard Rise Up so far, but I can see what you meant with the St Anger comparison. Metallica were going for thet “loose but tight” thing so many bands have strived for…and failed. What I like about Therapy? is that so often the energy in the songs is so in-yer-face that the songs sound like they could come apart at the seams at any point, yet it all manages to keep together, somehow. I guess that the idea of that is that it reflects a state of mind, too - I’m sure we’ve all had days when it all looks like it’s gonna come apart in our hands, so to speak.
