39 minutes !!!! Thats LESS than High anxiety and HA is too short as it is…

Why bother? There are thirteen very good songs on NANE and it’s a very intense record. (at my player it reads 42 minutes by the way) After intense listening you really have to take a break. At least I have to. Why bother about a few minutes more or less when the music is so good, raw, honest and intense?

I guess if NANE came out 5 years after HA then It would be worse, but I suppose because its only a year after then 40 minutes is ok ! :)

Off course, I don’t doubt your honesty. That’s not what I meant though. Your reaction obviously shows you’re not one of those assholes that copy music to cd only to sell and earn a few euros or whatever currency.

I think the length of the album is pretty good. It could even be a little shorter, like 12 songs. To me it is a totally satisfying listen. Plus, I can name a lot of other albums I like even though they are short. Like “Gran Tourismo” from the Cardigans or “Fever to Tell” by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

Yeah, when I first loaded it up, I had a moment of panic at the length, but it’s just right. (Like goldilocks and the three (polar) bears. Guess that makes me Goldilocks. Fuck.)

I don’t think 39 mins is bad. ‘Reign In Blood’ by Slayer’s 29 minutes and it’s a classic album.

Oh, and d, I didn’t have to pay full price even though I got the CD in a shop - a girl on my course works in Virgin, so I got a 25% discount

The Wildhearts Must Be Destroyed - 31 mins
It’s A Shame About Ray (Lemonheads) - 27 mins (or just over 30 on the version with Mrs Robinson on it)
Disappear Here (forthcoming Silver Sun album) - 30 mins

…and so on. Sometimes, albums that don’t outstay their welcome rock! Don’t know about NANE yet as my (Xfm competition winning) copy hasn’t arrived yet. Mind you, it’s a given that it’ll be ace.

Yeah, absolutely, and the pure intensity justifies it, right?
It’s not the length, it’s what you do with it that counts… you just keep telling yourself that, Joe :p

Yeah, in fact this thread made me put ‘Reign In Blood’ on right now. That caveman scream at the beginning of “Angel Of Death” is a bit rubbish though.

Yeah, tis very cool. I don’t think she’s a T? fan though, cos then I could have asked her to come with me to the T? in-store.

Ask her anyway, plenty of people got into T? from live shows.

It’s better than the cheesy “woah, woah”s on most glam albums of the time, that’s for sure.

“Hey, would you like to come to Camberley with me?” Don’t think so. Mibbe if it actually was in London.

Anyway, we’re getting off track, so let’s get back to the issue at hand before Sarah gets mad.

39 minutes is plenty for a rock album. People tend to bleat on about bands’ album’s not being long enough. Excuse me, but I personally cannot sit through a 74-minute album. Most bands can’t come up with 74 minutes’ worth of quality songs, and rock music is supposed to make you want to rock out (duh), not sit in front of a roasting fire drinking hot chocolate while the album goes on and on and on. The only reason the CD is 74 minutes is because it was designed to be able to store all of Beethoven’s 5th.

FACT!

At least T? are still getting great records out there. Most of the best albums fit on one side of C-90 tape anyway.

Its quality not quantity we want, just look at ‘Load’ by Metallica. The longest album ever released on a single disc at that time and it only had 3 good songs on it!
