Started by Eyesore

Monkeys, cows, sheep, a polar bear, a camel and even monsters. Weird.

Hmm, I hadn’t noticed it either but now that you mention it, it’s pretty clear. It’s not just Animal Bones anymore now is it?

Maybe it’s his new phase. Better than all of the Jesus references or comparisons between Troublegum and Infernal Love.

But no, he has too much sympathy for caged animals (see Polar Bear).

But then the polar bear will eat the other animals.

I’m pretty sure that monkeys are a reference for the space monkeys in Fight Club since Andy looks like he likes Chuck Palahniuk.

I don’t know about the other ones. I was wondering about the Polar Bear as well.

Polar Bear could be about the claustrophobic world we live in; too many people on a very small planet. It makes us nervous and the pacing back and forth is a way to escape it all. That’s why the polar bears in the zoos do it. It’s not natural behaviour.

You associate polar bears with the arctic, a symbol for a wide open space aka freedom.
So the caged polar bear to me is a metaphor for being sort of cramped in a relationship with another person.

I think it’s more of an existential look at society today. It’s about how we make ourselves up (polar bears are beautiful animals) and put ourselves on dispaly (the pacing back and forth bit), but at the same time keep ourselves isolated from any real meaningful human contact, (hence the cage)…

Of course Andy may just have taken the family to the zoo ;)
