NANE support

Started by MoldenWibe

Spitfire has a serious distribution problem or it is not supporting NANE. NANE is not available from Amazon, Play, THE, etc. No medium stores have it and it seems that they were encouraged to return early. At least the one small retailer I spoke said he was…

If the album is not available it can’t be sold… PRETTY FUCKING STUPID…

This is good and bad news.

The good: they have sold all the available copies so this is great

The bad: spitfire underestimated the sellingpower of T? and distributed too little copies. I hope they will produce the new batch very soon, so no potential buyers will be lost

oh ok, return early means recall. Didn’t get that, sorry not a native speaker.

If this is true, it sucks big time. There’s nothing wrong with my copy, I think.

no you have misunderstood my speed typing (while boss stands over me). There is nothing wrong with the CD’s but the record company has requested all unsold copies be returned to them, I think.

I want to know why?

This cannot be true. I don’t know who told you this, but I tink it’s absolute nonsense.

Back again…

most labels will sell on sale or return, but the retailer I spoke to sent them back after about three weeks or less. This seems a particularly short time span, especially when the retailer thought ‘it is a bloody good album’, but he couldn’t risk getting stuck with them, being a small operator.

I would be more worried about why none of the online retailers don’t have stock. Maybe they did sell out beyond their wildest expectations, although I doubt it. If some non Womble logs on to amazon and says I might as well buy that Therapy album, if they see a wait of 4 to 6 weeks for delivery it will cool their heels very quick. The distributor should ensure that albums are available, and for new albums they should push for a bigger pre-order to try an make the album available stright after release.

Maybe I was unlucky when I searched last night. It is just that due to work hassles I haven’t been able to get a major record shop and can’t get NANE quickly any other way… I would have hoped that the album was still being pushed in the first month of its life…

Hm, I am a little suspicious as well because a friend of mine went to three record stores to buy it in Rotterdam( not the smallest city in the Netherlands), and none of them had it in stock any more…

The band are very concerned to hear about the early recall of NANE. Could anyone who’s experienced this problem when buying the album please email me (sarah@therapyquestionmark.co.uk) with details i.e. store & city, so we can talk to the record company and sort it out.

Thanks.

I ordered my copy off play and had no problems then just got someone to ship it over here to oz. But here know one knows of it and that it is out to order, they have lots of copy’s of HA so they must be a demand over here as most shops stock that album.

Most businesses operate on “sale or return”. It’s beneficial for all parties - the promotor gets loads of product into the stores, and the stores aren’t afraid to get loads in because they know they can return what they don’t sell.

What is very surprising in this case, is that NANE has already been returned, by promotor (Spitfire) demand.

For example, newspapers are returned the next day - afterall, day old newspapers ain’t gonna sell - but recalling an album after only a few weeks???

If Spitfire have done this, then they are TOTAL wankers

A@M are looking better and better all the time. I know they were a major, but at least T? never had any problems with them. Ark21 & Spitfire are not worth a bollocks!!

As we understand the situation at the moment, this was NOT a Spitfire decision.

It seems that smaller businesses may decide to return the album earlier than we would have thought but this would be on an individual basis. Amazon do have the album in stock and have been asked by Spitfire to correct their estimated delivery time as it is clearly out of date.

I’ll keep you updated if I hear any more…
