Restaurants and cafes yes, pubs…fuck off. I think people who can’t handle a bit of secondhand smoke are the ones who should be banned from pubs and clubs. Whinging fuckers. :mad:

I don’t care about people smoking in pubs in general but I do object to them smoking over the bar in my face, when I go on glasses it doesn’t bother me, I’m working in a pub and its expected. But I don’t care if its banned really, not my problem and fewer ash trays for me to clean at the end of a night

I was in Ireland when the ban came in, I fucking loved it. You’re clothes don’t stink the next day and your eyes don’t sting. I have no problem really with people smoking, I used to smoke myself, but in the long run it’s a good thing. The problem is starting off with this kind of law, it’s difficult for the smokers who’ve smoked all their lives, but it’s going to make it almost pointless for younger people to start. When you get to 18 and you go for a beer but can’t smoke, there’ll be no incentive to keep smoking.

Being from Ireland, I think it’s brilliant.

Like “realityfuck” said. No smelly clothes, itchy eyes, or people just simply blowing smoke in your face while you’re chatting to them. I fucking hate that.

But the main reason they did it here was because of the health and safety act which was never fully enforced as far as smoking in the workplace was concerned. The public didn’t consider a pub as a workplace. but then the government finally got it together and properly enforced it.
Plus it was costing them millions upon millions in public health costs. So it just made sense for them to do it.

hmmm… so why is the governement still collecting taxes from cigarettes, when they are soooooo bad for you? makes NO sense to me. but then again, that’s politics, i guess.

This is really politicians’ logic. They increased the taxes on cigarettes in Germany to make them more expensive and keep people from smoking and now they complain about making less money out of it.

When you smoke it makes my clothes smell, it makes my hair smell & everything needs washing. Bit like if I pissed on you. So, go ahead, light up & enjoy dying slowly. And bring your umbrella ;)

And I do smoke (sorry, Rob ;)) but as was said, if it discourages people from taking up the habit, forces us smokers to at least cut down and makes the world a nicer smelling place then it’s alright by me.

You’re forgiven (which doesn’t mean I’ll stop trying to talk you out of it) but I think most people would agree with your sentiment.

@MSD but… I don’t know any bistros!
