Only One Guitar

#

Started by PSYCHO SI

Has anyone else realised that Therapy? wont be able to play a lot of stuff live cos most of their stuff has more than one guitar part. They’ll probably just play most stuff off NANE etc

they got by fine live recently, and they have a lot of material they can play with one guitar. of course one guitar is more restrictive cos some songs would be undoable, but i wanna hear a lot of NANE anyway.

I dont see why they couldn’t play most of their songs anyway - A lot of stuff off troublegum had more than one guitar track on the album, and they dont have a lot of trouble playing those songs.

They haven’t been playing stuff off Shameless, Semi-detatched or Suicide Pact, but they have played Rust and If It Kills Me from High Anxiety. In the drunken slur of Andy himself ‘I hit it twice as hard’.

I saw T? when they were a three piece, when they supported the Wildhearts. They were just as good as ever.

I don’t think they have played anything from ‘Shameless’ since they toured that album - not even ‘Gimme Back My Brain’. It’s a shame as I thought it was a terrific album even though a lot of people weren’t too keen on it.

Well I’ve only ever seen Therapy? in London and I’ve found the gigs there sadly lacking in ‘Shameless’ songs the last couple of times I’ve seen them. :(

Agreed - big shame. I really enjoyed seeing them at Ocean when they played 8 or so songs off Shameless, a cracking gig. Gimme Back My Brain, This One’s For You, I Am The Money, Wicked Man, Stalk and Slash, all brilliant live.

THAT gig rocked -I was there (Defenistration supported and where awful)!
Remember the punk guy who jumped into the crowd feet first and graham had a shit and started yelling at him…then the band got everyone to boo the arsehole. Classy!
Bring on tonight!

Dez (Aint posted in a while never have time but my boss is an arsehole so I’m gonna surf!)

In my own opinion, tonight’s Sister really missed the second guitar. IT’s a rocking song and everyone got into it on previous tours, but this time it seemed to be worse off for just one guitar, and the crowd seemed to quieten down a bit for it too — the energy just wasn’t there. But as I said, that’s my opinion.

It’s an opinion I’d share - more than any other song they played, Sister was definitely on the thin side and lacking some muscle.

I think the best thing about the recorded version of sister is the dual vocals - and with only Andy providing vocals for it last night it certainly wasn’t up to scratch.

Overall though I don’t think the lack of Martin’s guitar was a great loss. However, losing the electric cello means that we are unlikely to see the band play great songs like Ten Year Plan again which is a real shame.

Ok, I don’t see it as the “second guitar missing”: I just think it leaves more room for Michael to show what he’s got, especialy in songs like Sister and Innocent X the bass is so briliant…though there is one bassline I would love to hear live one day and that is the part somewhere in the middle of TotallyRandomMan…I guess, I don’t need to tell you people;)

The other songs they play (from Babyteeth, Pleasure death, Troublegum, Nurse, NANE…) are ok…
Rock on!

But on the other hand: we won’t be hearing the boring, sloooooooow version of Diane ever again. If they’ll ever play it live again, it’ll be the *cool* rocking version!

Didn’t really miss the second guitar I must say. Nowhere sounded great as always, even Stories sounded good without the cello!
