hey,

i’ve just finished watching the program about peter cook and dudley moore. it was undoubtedly the best television movie type thingy that i have seen this year. peter cook was always one of my comedy heroes just for his deadpan way of making anything funny. i didn’t know much about his actual life so it now kind of makes a bit more sense, assuming that it was a good representation. rhys ifans did a great job of being peter too. ch4 pulls off another masterpiece.

by the way, i am not an ambassador for ch4.

everyone have a happy new year, i won’t.

xxx

I asked for Peter Cook’s biography for Xmas, and am looking forward to reading it. When I’ve finished the Marilyn Manson and Red Army Faction ones, of course :p

Bugger, shame i didn’t catch it Peter Cook and Dudley Moore were very funny And Derrick And Clive were pure Fifth (and where i learnt all my fav words from). I was thinking of getting is Biography to learn about his life I guess it’s worth hearing about?.

And try to have a good new year it can’t be that hard?

I thought the start was really good, but the middle lagged a little for me, I got the message Peter’s life was going down the pan but it seemed to me it was hammering it too much, but thats just me

Yep, bit of a Cookfest last night. I watched the Ch4 documentary, which was very interesting, and I watched the Comedians’ Comedian programme before that, which Pete won :)

I understand why you say this. I wouldn’t say they were “funny” so much as absurd and (later in their career), amusingly offensive.

Anyone like Chris Morris? Surely he’s the heir to Cook’s throne.

Yeah - I think that stuff is really funny.

I just think Cook & Moore are over-rated. I guess you had to be around at the time though to be offended by it as it has been surpassed since.
