i like what ive heard of down and i got the superjoint ritual live dvd, t’is okay, a few good songs on there but i just bought it cos of phil really, not a patch on the ‘tera

Yeah but Jesus, he is so fucking bitter. Understandable certainly…but that jibe at the end to the “Heavy Metal Media”? Unfair and uncalled for, they did not shoot Dimebag.

I thought the opposite - I didn’t feel bad for him until seeing the video!

I think he’s blaming the press for the demise of Pantera and the resulting bad blood between Anselmo and the Abbott brothers. Apparently, a lot of shit was printed and created fiction.

I remember reading an interview with Vinnie in Rhythm which said that he and Dimebag had tried getting in touch with Phil in anyway possible, their own phones, leaving messages etc and going trough management but never heard anything back. So they both sat round waiting for ages for him to come back to Pantera, but he never did. Doesn’t sound too much like the press doing all that does it?

Dunno what to make of the video, plays really badly on this comp and seems quite garbled.

I think you’re all being a bit harsh on the guy. Whatever his and Abbott’s differences were, you can see in the video that he’s genuinely distraught about it. I’ve hardly ever seen such raw emotion. I don’t think he’s looking for any sympathy, at all.

Former PANTERA frontman Philip Anselmo’s videotaped statement about the murder of bandmate “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott, with whom he had feuded in the press in recent years, has been uploaded at the web site of Fuse’s “Uranium”. Watch the four-minute, 17-second clip at this location (Windows Media). A transcript of Anselmo’s statement follows:
“People want my reaction to what happened.

“This is not about me. This is about Dimebag Darrell — purely Darrell. It’s not about me or some motherfucking psycho that happened to destroy the most beautiful fucking person — one of my best friends in the world.

“It was the heavy metal goddamn media that destroyed PANTERA.

“This is about Darrell, my brother of 17 years, who… PANTERA’s music changed people’s lives, man. We weren’t just some band. He was NOT just some guitar player.

“I wanna say… Bless his family and all of his close friends. And I never got a chance to say goodbye in the right way, and it kills me. And I’m so sorry. I wish to God I could have gone to his funeral, but I have to respect his family’s wishes, and they do not want me there. I believe I belong there, but I understand completely.

“I’m so sorry to his bandmembers. I’m so sorry to the whole fucking world that loved Dimebag Darrell. Because let me tell you something: there was not one motherfucker like him.

“I’m so sorry to his family and everyone else who was just senselessly killed in Columbus, Ohio. It’s a town I love. That’s a town I’ve played a hundred times, goddamn it. I love that town. That’s where Dimebag Darrell got killed.

well i think from other reports she bought it for him before he was diagnosed, she got it for him while he was a marine, although a gun as a present is kind of odd i suppose but who knows, she couldnt have forseen anything like that, if you go on nbc4 a news station for columbus have he interview on video (or they did near the time, might not be on there now)
