If this is the sound, I’m going to pour hot wax in my ears and jump into a pit of scorpions and rusty nails.

The first two sound like Franz F.
The third sounds okayish.
‘The Game’ sounds like another pish rapper who will be booed off at Reading.
And the rest well. Fogetaboutit

that explains

(no hard feelings btw, just that i really love those 2 songs - the only ones i’ve heard so far - and that i don’t really see the comparison with franz ferdinand, but well…)

Its a clip of helicopter on there, although how it sounds like FF I’m not quite sure. Your right though, helicopter and banquet are fantastic tunes, and their new one is quite good as well. Just a shame little thoughts was so shit!

No matter what there’s some hope… Pearl Jam and Pennywise will both be coming out with new releases, that should help ease the pain a bit. At least it will for me :)

ähem…really good. :D

And Bloc Party will get huge, I suppose, but I don’t care.

“the current trend for intelligent new wave and art rock”

Now, what the f*ck is intelligent new wave and even better, art rock? mibbe I’m getting too old for this.

all ten “artists” seem rather boring to me, so they’ll all be succesful, and forgotten in a year’s time.

The Kaiser Chiefs do sound a bit like the Jam in ‘79.

Weren’t there days when art rock was a synonym for prog rock. I think none of those bands sounds like Yes though the music critic who made this lsit must’ve been at the Gates Of Delirium.

I vaguely remember hearing that Joy Division and Killing Joke were Art Rock, but i don’t know what it’s supposed to mean…

that’s what i thought aswell, but clearly they don’t use that word in this context.

btw, saw a YES-gig the other day on TV from the Locarno Jazz Festival, bloody brilliant.

“Art Rock
Another term often used interchangeably with progressive rock, art rock implies rock with an exploratory tendency. Another definition of “art rock” describes music of a more mainstream compositional nature, tending to experimentation within this framework. Early Roxy Music, David Bowie, Brian Eno’s 70s rock music, and Be Bop Deluxe serve as examples of the latter definition. ”

Maybe the “Art-Rock” term is used differently in different cultures (ie. art rock in Germany isn’t the same as in the UK?) Joy Division and Killing joke were both New Wave with my mates.

I’m always pretty suspicious of most musical classifications anyway. I’m never entirely sure of the point of classifying, except to give a rough idea to someone who hasn’t heard a particular band. But that’s easier said than done.

Zipless, why have I scared you again? :s

you come up with straight to the point and unexpected essays(sp) about certain subjects, the “to the religious” one for example and they don’t seem to be “googled”. i’m impressed.

my humble opinion. bands that are hiped that much beforehand usually don’t last the season. it happened before and it will happen again. how many times have we been conned into the next BIG thing?

and i am not just using that said article for back up, but i referred to it as there were 10 bands/artists mentioned who according to some journalist will be succesful in the year 2005. i did indeed hear different songs of some of the artists on the list and i do have to admit, they don’t move me. anyways, enough of my rant. and don’t take it personal. please?
