at this stage carlofthevplates I would suggest holding onto any track that you may do until the legalities have been made clear to us all… but if all that legal stuff is cleared and its ok for us too proceed… I could suggest that I can set up ftp accounts on my bands webspace where people can send their finished tracks too… this could kill two birds with one stone as I could then remaster all the tracks so that the eq and volume/compression levels are pretty much globalised… and then after that… who knows?!?! haha we’ll have to see if anything further develops with regards a possible cd release.. however I imagine that the easiest way of people hearing the tracks would would be too set up maybe a peoplesound/iuma/purevolume account where the tracks can be uploaded/downloaded and maybe a nominal fee which could go to a charity could also be employed through the use of one or all three of the aformentioned sites… ?!?! but then maybe I am being a little over ambitious with my ideas and it might just be easier to set up a site somewhere for people to download the tracks for free… maybe the Therapy? lads could host the resulting mp3/wma files on their own site?!?!

not a prob, ill do some recording anyways, if they dont get clearence then ill just keep em for myself!

Ive spoken to my band and they are well up for doing this aswell. Not sure what song we would like to do but opal mantra or evil elvis would be pretty cool to do. If not for a cd then just to post up somewhere. :D

Converting to MP3 is trivial — drop me a mail if you want to do it and I’ll talk you through it (this is of course assuming that you don’t already know, which is a big assumption, and apologies in advance etc)

I’ve done it before using conversion software. The problem is that the track is on the laptop, not the PC I am using now, and I’d have to burn a CD, then download the software, install it, convert the file, mail it… I’m just plain lazy is what it boils down to. I’ll do it at some stage. I’m off for the holidays now, so I’ll do it sometime soon.

I’d love to play along if at all possible. A friend of mine has a decent home studio and if there’s a way to get me files I could do some vocals, or possibly convince a good friend of mine to do some drum work. I’d offer guitar services as well but I’m a total noob.

Perhaps we could use a site such as http://s12.yousendit.com/ to exchange files.

At any rate my concact information in my profile is up to date so feel free to drop me a line.

I have a sort of guitar/dance/whatever version of Innocent-X.

Might try and get it recorded properly (or at least semi-properly) rather than just this ‘demo’ version I have.

I’ll post the Dancin’ With Manson recording I have done, just to se if its good enough, but I’d like to do something with a band in at least semi-profesional circumstances. Probably something off Nurse (disgracelands?) or Sister. I’ll have to converse with the lads.

My band, The Shadowcops would like to do:

Lonley Cryin Only
Potato Junkie
Misery
A Moment of Clarity
Gimme Back my Brain
Ten Year Plan

…actually we’re not that fussy. But any of the above would be good.

I recorded Disgracelands with my new mic that I got just after christmas- the recording’s not great but… well I don’t know. There’s no bass drum at all… I got Adobe Audition (legally, of course:)) and started cleaning it up a bit. Sound’s OK.

I worked on Trigger Inside and Naseua over my vacation but I wasn’t really happy with the sound. Either with plugging straight into the recorder after my pedalboard, or using a cab mic.

Also my set up isn’t exactly ideal space-wise, a bit cramped trying to play, manage my effects and run the recorder. I’m trying to get my friend to give me a hand running the digital recorder, and also use his basement. It has much better acoustics and more room. But he has a family so coordinating with him is a bit of an issue.

Of course none of this will matter if the legalese people say no. :P

As stated before, if any of the legal issues don’t come through, do it anyway online or just give it to Alex for Suicidepact.com Anyway, I’m sure it’ll be OK. Just don’t let it fade into nothing; you know how lazy musicians can be;)

About a year ago my band donated a version of “If Only” for a similar idea/album on the Queens of the Stone Age website.

I’m not sure what happened the song, if a cdr of tribute tracks was ever circulated among traders or not, but it was good fun recording it and making it available for people.

Ha, it’s finally ended up on this site:
http://www.year-zero.co.uk/qotsa/

Beware, our version is crap - we only rehearsed it once or twice before recording it. There are much better QOTSA songs we should’ve covered but this was easier. I dunno yet if it’s gonna be circulated as a cdr album or what…

I’d think that it would be easy enough to offer this online, as I’m sure any of the other yanks on the board can attest to (last record I bought physically in a shop was Infernal Love).

I’d hope that with the blessing of the lads and their lawyers that it could go up on itunes or something like that (of course then that means I’d have to finally break down and get itunes. Meh.)
