What amps do you use?

#

Started by FNYANKEZ

I just decided to treat myself to a new amp. Finally went tube. I bought a Marshall TSL 122, and I must say it was worth every penny. It can get so many different tones it’s amazing!

What’s everyone else using?

at the moment i only have a practice amp, yamaha VA10, its got two speakers though, and at 5 watt output on each its quite a beast :D

just started new job this week, £7.10 an hour so i should be able to afford a live amp pretty soon, after the visa has been paid that is:rolleyes:, and as long as i dont get sacked i was thinking bout a line 6 or something cos its less maintenance than a tube, but tubes always soiund better and warmer.

do you use the marshall distortion or effects? cos i wana use my muff distortion pedal cos i can get the sound i want through my pedals and my yamaha, it just aint loud enough!

I also use a TSL, but the 100 head and Marshall 4x12 cab. It has a great sound and is really loud. At a gig, the highest I have had the crunch channel is 4.

I also have a Roland micro cube for a practice amp. It has some great effects, and is also great for recording.

I used to have a Trace Elliot AH350 amp head and two 4x10 cabs, fantastic amp but had to give it up due to lack of space… swapped it for an Ibanez Iceman guitar…

I also had a 70’s Fender Bassman valve amp - that had a real nice sound to it.

I’m using a Randall RH100 with matching 4x12 for guitar (and loving it!) and a Carlsbro 370w ‘Bass Beasty’ for Bass, which is nice!

I have tow cool amps, my guitar one is a marshall mg50 which has cool different sounds and does the job when playing with others. My other baby is a bass amp which is a Behringer ULTRABASS BX1200, not played with others useing that one but it say it is LOUDER enough.

A Trace Elliot AH300 amp with 1048H loudspeaker set. They work fantastic with a Musicman Stingray 5-string; enough low for the B-string :)

ive just been to sound control with my mate cos he’s after a new amp, he loved the distortion channel on the marshall DSL but hated the clean, too thin, and loved the clean on the mesa, single rectifier and hated the distortion, i told him to by both and link them, the only solution i think :D
he wanted to try triple rectifier but they didnt have it in stock , that extra gain channel might really make the difference

hes got the valvesate combo at the moment, the 102r i think it is and that sounds cool to me, but the clean just doesnt sound as full as warm as a nice valve amp, slightly overdriven mmmmmmmmmmmmm

Has anyone ever heard Soldano amps? I’ve got a model of one in the Line 6 Guitarport, and I have to say it kicks the crap out of every other amp on it, including Marshall and Mesa Boogie models. I really want one, but they cost thousands… I’d get a Carl Thompson bass first!

at home i use a 1977 Lab Series L5 amp, which pretty much does it. saving up money for a marshall top and cabinet, but the Mesa Boogie stuff also looks allright…

I bought myself a 2nd hand Marshall Valvestate 8080 and it’s nice.

I needed something solid for jamming - had a micro-stack before that!

I’ve also dabbled with software - NI Guitar Rig and Ampitube - amazing - every type of amp and cab/effect you could ever think of!!!
